I Went To A Party, Mom

    I went to a party,
    and remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom
so I had a sprite instead.

    I felt proud of myself,
the way you said I would,
that I didn't drink and drive,
though some friends said I should.

    I made a healthy choice,
and your advice to me was right
    as the party finally ended,
and the kids drove out of sight.

    I got into my car,
sure to get home in one piece,
I never knew what was coming, Mom
    something I expected least.

Now I'm lying on the pavement,
And I hear the policeman say,
'The kid that caused this wreck was
    drunk, '
Mom, His voice seems far away.

My own blood's all around me,
as I try hard not to cry.
I can hear the paramedic say,
'This girl is going to die.'

I'm sure the guy had no idea,
    while he was flying high,
because he chose to drink and drive,
now I would have to die.

So why do people do it, Mom
    Knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me,
    like a hundred stabbing knives.

Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom
    tell daddy to be brave,
and when I go to heaven,
put 'Daddy's Girl' on my grave.

    Someone should have taught him,
that its wrong to drink and drive.
    Maybe if his parents had,
    I'd still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom
    I'm getting really scared.
    These are my final moments,
    and I'm so unprepared.

I wish that you could hold me Mom,
as I lie here and die.
I wish that I could say I love you, Mom
So I love you and good-bye.

I am not the Author of this Poem, The Author is Unknown, This poem was found floating around a High School. I thought I should share it with everyone.

    Take Time:

Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul. Take time to think, it is the source of power. Take time to read, it is the fountain of wisdom. Take time to love and be loved, it is a God-given privilege. Take time to work, it is the price of success.

Have a great day ahead! :)

    Hi Hansini!
We are all doing well. We have been trying to spend as much time as we can together as a family, but it's hard to do when my husband has to go up to his family's farm to help out with the farm work. It means that my daughter and I have to go there to spend some time with him (but even when we are up there we only really get to see him at meal times and for about an hour before going to bed). Plus, it means we are invading his parents' house--they don't mind because they are very good about opening their home to anyone. I just feel like we are invading (it's all in my head!). :)

My daughter still sings Alejandro. It makes me chuckle every time she does. I have cut her back a bit and started keeping a children's song CD in my car so she can listen to music more suited for kids.

Yes, it's my daughter and I in the picture. We were at Christmas at my grandparents' house. It doesn't matter how tight I put her hair up out of her face, she plays so hard that her hair always comes loose and is in her face. She does have cheeks on her--she gets them from her daddy. She looks like my husband more than she looks like me. I told him it wasn't fair since I went to the work of carrying her (pregnancy) and going through labor to have her. He laughs when I say that.

I video tape or take pictures of my daughter all of the time. She is starting to become a media "hog." She loves to watch herself on video! They are fun to watch, especially after time has passed. It's funny how fast a mind forgets all the little things.

I have read the Vampire Diaries and I do not recommend them to anyone. I haven't been enjoying them. I LOVED the Secret Circle books by LJ Smith, which is why I even started reading the Vampire Diaries, but the Secret Circle books are so much better! I would recommend the Secret Circle books instead.

I would like to buy the Privilege books because I checked to see if they were in our school and public libraries, but we don't have them. I would love to buy them because I have LOVED the Private series. I am totally hooked on Kate Brian books now after reading the Private series (which isn't finished, yet).

I told Jitesh that I am reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's interesting, to me, because the author wrote about her trip to Italy, India, and Indonesia. I am just starting to get into the India part of her book/trip. I love learning new things about countries.

If you ever want to share a female's perspective on living in India, I would love to hear it. What was/is school like for girls/you. Are there things guys can do that women aren't allowed to do (and that you wish you could do)?
Thanks for writing back. I enjoy our conversations.
Take care of yourself and I will talk to you soon, friend!

    Hiya Heidi!

Thanks for all the kind words..
I will be a bit occupied now as am going to engage myself with the job.

Wow! Tirupati is a nice, religious place. My father visits the Balaji Temple once every 2 years or so.
He comes home bald so i get scared and never wish to visit Tirupati!
Strange that its an educational hub as well! I think the climate there will be awesome and i hope you end up studying there and not loitering with friends! Its a tourist destination after all! :D

I will miss you too but not for long! you will be back soon! so why to worry...

I don't know the author. I didn't got good reviews so i will drop the idea of reading those books. I am planning to read Eat, Pray, Love next. Heard about that?

Have a great productive week ahead! :)

    Open Heart:

The heart is like a flower - unless it is open it cannot release its fragrance into the world. The fragrance of the heart is made up of the qualities and virtues of our spirit. Most of us have learned how to keep our heart closed in a world that would trample all over us if we let it. Being open hearted today seems to require tremendous courage. It is a courage which comes only when we realise that no one can hurt us, no matter what they say or do. They may hurt our body, but if we have realised we are spirit, nothing outside can touch us, if we so decide. Little by little, practice opening your heart to those you think have hurt you. Realise it wasn't them that hurt you, it was yourself. And it taught you not to trust and you closed your heart. A closed heart is in need of opening. And when you do, you will have begun to heal yourself.

Yes i was actually looking forward to learn more of english so that i can speak and write effortlessly. Do you own these books Ashley?

Have you ever read or practiced from this book - The word power made easy? Thats a fantastic book to start from scratch. The book mostly costs 100 bucks. But i must tell you that it is a very informative and solving the easy exercises out there in that book helps one to make use of one's vocabulary effectively. It helps you to perceive a very different way of grasping new words and learning their usage. I am yet to complete that book. Just last few pages remaining. The book is a must read for someone who is earnestly interested to learn, write or use english in a more impressive manner. I made my own diary of words out of that book.

You will truly enjoy the process of learning!

    Love,
    Jitesh :)

Hello my sweet wee Heidi! :)

My exams were overall good. I miss your notes too so i will keep writing to you every now and then so that i don't miss them anymore.
The best thing was during my exam days i was able to be in a stable frame of mind so they passed smoothly without much distress.

Seems like you are reading more novels than your syllabus books. I bought that book - Life after death and The Master of the game (for a friend) then i will read some of your recommended books..

What are you reading these days? Are you getting up early?
2 months should be sufficient if you study diligently.. I hope you sustain the tempo of studying regularly and dedicatedly for some good hours. You have to do well in your exams Ash.

    Hugs for a sweet friend,
    Jitesh :)
