    It's partly what you mention, it's partly that it's hard for me to commit to an absolute rating because there is always wiggle room. Ten points would help, but how I feel on any given day would still give you +/- a star. I have a hard time rating anything a 5 star (of five). Additionally, what I mean and what you mean by a 3 may not be the same. So yeah, ratings are always a little difficult for me. When I graded papers, I assumed that everyone started at a "C" for average (and competent) and then they either proved they were above or below that.

    I never really got into Shelfari. Goodreads makes more sense to me interface-wise.
