I can hardly put up every book I've read, so I'm attempting to record the books I've read from January 2007. (Unless it's one of my favourites; I'll add those as I think of them.) Sometimes I include the books I read aloud to my children.

Also, I live in a college town that has the best used book shop I've ever seen (and I've seen a... more »

I ended up reading "The Little Prince" to my kids about a month ago. They liked the story, but they didn't get all the themes and meanings, even after I talked to them about some of them. I guess their life experiences aren't enough to get some things. We all loved "Princess Academy." Great book. Yesterday we finished "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." That was hefty. The action parts were great to keep the kids attention, but Verne goes into long details about fish and plant life under the sea that were a bit much. I almost never recommend condensed books, but maybe this one would have been better with the long descriptive stretches omitted in a condensed book. We read almost two hours a day to get through it in 9 days. Hefty.

i just got "The Little Prince" and wasn't sure if it looked good or not. Since you loved it, I'll read it to my kids next. Have you read "Bud, not Buddy" to your kids? Mine absolutely loved it. I'm reading "The Princess Academy" to them at the moment and they love it so far, even though they're boys! I'll let you know if that one turns out as great as it's starting. Also, I'm thrilled to see all the Alexander McCall Smith books on your bookshelf. He is such a wonderful author. I can't say enough about his very insightful thoughts on life that he incorporates into his characters' thoughts. They make me laugh. Since I'm writing I may as well also include that I just loved "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves." Very funny.

Haha, well, I figure I'm already addicted, so I should actively try to create other addicts. :)

When you select the book, if you hit the little arrow to the right of "Add to Shelf" (or whatever), there are several options -- read, reading, plan to read, own, etc. You just check off the ones you want.
