Dear Hamchuck: I am an author from Massachusetts. My debut novel HUNTING THE KING was published in April. If you enjoy reading a good thriller like DA VINCI CODE, you might like HUNTING. The novel revolves around a charismatic young woman named Molly O’Dwyer. Molly was five years old when she witnessed her mother die in a fire. She never knew her father. After her mother’s death, she was raised on the campus of a Jesuit college. Now an archaeologist, she has been recruited to participate on a dig in war torn Iraq. As a scientist she is compelled to discover whatever or whoever is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. As an observant Catholic, she is scared that whatever she finds will have devastating consequences for her faith. There is a wonderful YouTube book trailer well worth watching if you have the chance. Hey Ham, bummer about your last few books, hope book thief makes up for them. I just finished Everything is Illuminated on audio, very very good, poor ending, but very good, highly reccomend it. Am reading Anna Karenina right now, also enjoying it so far.
I changed my name due to an unfortunate myspace incident, decided to be a little more anonmymous online. Say howdy to Unicorn for me will ya?

It is pretty straight forward but very well told. I really liked both books. How was that page turner (or burner) you were reading....What was it anyway?

Well, no wonder you haven't been around here lately. I'm sorry to hear that your lovely wife is not doing well, and wish her a speedy recovery! When she's fully recovered, you'll have to take her to see something better than "I Am Legend," though. She'll want to be rewarded rather than tortured.

Yes, the site has changed. Folks were all in a dither for awhile. Supposedly there are more changes in the works, but they are rolling them out slowly. We shall see.

It's good to hear from you. Drop news when you can.

Thanks for the recommendation. I think we may own that. If not, the local rental place is just a hop, skip and a jump away. I think we've got Val Lewton on for tonight, The Black Cat, if I remember it right. Those old(er) ones are the best.
    Happy Halloweening!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. My mom, a fellow Shelfarian, let the cat out of the bag. :) Happy birthday to you too. We October babies rock! Should have planned an Oktoberfest or something. You've made it further than I with The Time Traveler's Wife, I'm afraid. I just keep reading the back periodically and picking up something else. Mickey Spillane soon...

The South Pole? Wow, you've got your work cut out for you! You'd better start cracking as soon as the Halloween candy is gone, which in our case, will be well before Halloween. There's just something about those orange and black M&Ms... neither my husband nor I can walk by without scooping up a few, and the Twix (as gross as they are when one reads the label) were gone weeks ago! lol

No worries, I knew it was you in the guise of unicorn42. My husband, MisterGray, isn't on here often at all, so it's unlikely that I'd be able to leave a message as him, but you gave me a bit of a chuckle any old way. You might find Dark Harvest fun. It's a fast read, and written in this second person, present-tense pulpy style, which is a hoot. I also think that it might resonate with men more, that whole male rite of passage thing. Next up is Something Wicked This Way Comes... in keeping with the season (sort of life my Boo Radley Halloween costume!). Funny, and please let your wife know that she's not alone, my mister is all about the Halloween season, which begins on October 1, and horror. Our house has been decorated since September 30 and Universal Pictures classic horror films and Val Lewton and Hammer and you name it seem to be on 'round the clock! I'm just rolling with it. ;)

I don't get on as much as I did during the summer, no. And, I've become really pathetic in the turn-around time to respond to notes. I chalk that up to being buried beneath a pile of student papers and my very own article writing. It's so bad that I've neither re-read I Am Legend nor see 3:10 to Yuma. What is the world coming to? ;) I did however recently read a very short and somewhat pulpy Halloween horror tale, Dark Harvest, which was horrifically entertaining.

anyway, my interest in videography developed along my line of work. i am a segment producer for a broadcasting company here in my country. my work involves shooting with a cameraman in the field (with me thinking of how to shoot aesthetically), and then i write the script of what my team documented, i overlook how it gets edited it and then we get to air it on national tv weekly (of course after passing thru enough revisions from my bosses).how about you?how did you get into photography?

It's rather interesting when fellow Shelfarians drop out and seemed to have never existed, Helena was another one although her reasons for exit were much more obvious. Not sure what happened to Crystal, I myself have been very busy lately and haven't spent much time here and have mostly quelled my addiction, but still stop in frequently enough to check my messages and groups. Nice to hear from you as always, whatcha reading? I'm reading a literary gem titled "Call Me by your Name" about a sexually conflicted 17 year old, the writing is tremendous and heartfelt. I'm adoring the book although the topic is not for everyone.
