5.0 Stars: This is one of the best books I’ve read in the last year + and I would recommend it to strongly to any lover of stories like me. (Note to self: No, it does not mean "perfect."
4.5 Stars: This book was very well done. I would recommend it to people I know who read in this genre and if it weren't for slight problems with X (story, characters, dialog, etc), it would have been a 5.
4.0 Stars: I really liked this book and would read anything else by this author. I would also recommend it to select friends as well as anyone who reads this genre
3.5 Stars: This book was pretty good. I might not search out this author’s backlist, but I’d read another book by him/her if I stumbled across it.
3.0 Stars: Meh. I enjoyed this, but there was nothing that made it stand out from other books either.
2.5 Stars: This book was okay, but I'd probably need a recommendation from a friend to try another of this author’s books.
2.0 Stars: There were repetitive problems in this book that pulled me out of the narrative enough to interrupt my enjoyment of it. Check the review for more info.
1.5 Stars: I had trouble finishing this book. There were glaring problems with the writing, characters, and/or plot, and obvious issues with grammar and/or research.
1.0 Stars: I could not finish this book. The grammatical errors, plot and/or character inconsistencies, writing, and/or research issues were too numerous to count. This book was well below the quality I expect of books that I would pay money for. I would not recommend it to others.
Hand in hand with the above, I will also try to give most books a Smut rating:
5 Stars: If you can do it and call it "sex" then it's in this book.
4 Stars: Heavy sex with explicit descriptions of acts/potions/etc. Nothing too out of the norm though. (Detailed, not exotic)
3 Stars: Sex with some description but a good bit still left to the imagination
2 Stars: Sex started and getting hot before the fade to black
1 Stars: Sex behind closed doors. Possible innuendo or implied sex, nothing explicit
0 Stars: No nooky, no where.
