Hey Guy- I just had a great time reading your book. Your protagonist, Ben, was a very sympathetic character. I can definitely see Bukowski and H. Miller as influences reflected in your work- particularly Miller. Thanks for a good read. Jason R.

Hey Guy- Thanks for inviting me to be a friend. It looks as if we have a lot of literary interests in common. I will definitely check out Hard-Boiled Men soon- I'll pick up a copy from Amazon. I am actually reading Dr. Zhivago right now, but I've been wanting to reread some of Bukowski's and Kerouac's stuff.

P.S. can you find your book across the country, like in Vegas? I've been collecting much faster than I can read the books, so I have a whopping 570 unread books in my collection, that is years of reading without having to buy another book, buy you know I will, I'm addicted.

Yeah, Bukowski loves Celine as a writer, begin with "Journey to the End of the Night" which reads more like a regular novel and then the rest of his work has this style of blah blah blah ... blah blah blah ... blah blah blah ... It's full of three period breaks cause the writing is more stream of consciousness than most writers, yet can be followed fairly easily. I would then recommend "Death on the Installment Plan" and maybe his WWII trilogy (Castle to Castle, North, Rigadoon). You can read Guignol's Band, but it ends abruptly and there is a sequal, but I havn't come across it yet. He is a great writer and influenced more than just Bukowski. Count Vonnegut as one of his followers too.

Oh, I thought you wanted to be my friend because you thought I was someone special or could tell by the "books" on my "shelf" that I have impeccable taste. Guess not.

I have an old quiz for you: why is it that Henry keeps on changing his name in Sexus?
And thanks (again) for this new good stuff :)

I'm pretty loyal to the strand, but I'll make an exception to check out your book. Thanks for the friend invite, and your shelf reminded me of a few to read and a few to re-read Lisa

Thanks for your note, Guy. I'm glad you dig my shelf. I guess I am a serious reader, now that you mention it ... ;o) I'll definitely check out your site and your book. Having lived the maddening single life in NYC myself, I'll be interested in your insights! Thanks again for the note and the friendship!

    Hey Guy,
thanx for the invite. Yeah, sure. I checked out your book shelf and you're definitely friend material. Love the Henry Miller! What are you reading now? I'm reading Candide, which is gory AND funny. Also reading Green For Life, which is about emulating a chimp's diet. It's actually kind of interesting, especially if evolution fascinates you. Anyways, welcome. And happy reading, my friend.
