"Spring and All" is the mother of all WCW's memorable lines. I wonder when they started getting excerpted? Also--you've read Hart Crane's "The Bridge" yes? There are identical lines in both poems, especially the "if you didn't like my gate whydja swing on it?" one.

I love "Imaginations." Everything about it. Especially the fact that the title is plural. I've been reading WCW's "In the American Grain" a lot recently for a chapter.

we read 'blindness' in grad school. the last day of discussion ended with my professor offering a rendition of 'amazing grace.' the rest of us just sat there blinking at one another. the same professor asked me to teach the class a few times after falling off a golf cart. he was an ex-boxer, too, a drunken lush. ahh, grad school.
