Just having a nosy through your list of authors for inspiration as I think we generally like the same kind of books :) What do you mean by the Lost generation?

Thanks Augusta. I'm a self-proclaimed book nerd myself but I've had my head in the reference/academia section for a very long time. I'm looking forward to broadening my horizons with this group.

I don't think I disliked it as much as some people. At first I found Henderson's narrative to be so unlikeable because of his personality that I didn't like the book at all. About midway I realised that he had been projecting his madness onto other people and realised that he was the one that most likely had some kind of mental health issue. From the point where Henderson is with the Arnewi tribe I could see that he was trying to become a better person and I didn't dislike him quite as much. This was the point where the book started getting better for me. I often think the voice of the narrator can make the difference between a 3 and a 5 star book for me.

Wow, just seen your rating for Henderson the Rain King. It is very different from the general feeling on the discussion post in 1001 books so can't wait to see what you thought about it. :)

    Hi Augusta,
Shelfari has been giving me some trouble for the last couple of days. One of them is that it won't let me follow anyone. I am posting my email here -
    abhyankaraarti@gmail.com
I had been deleting the numbers from an excel sheet of the 1001 books so that i could then sort it alphabetically...that is tedium with a capital T.
    Thanks.
    Best, Aarti

Green Dolphin Street by Elizabeth Goudge is a sort of romantic novel (not ala Harlequin) about a guy who moves to New Zealand from England where he was the neighbor of two sisters, one with whom he fell in love. A good tale and a pretty good movie was made of it

New Zealand is one of those places I have always wanted to visit ever since I was a young lad and read Green Dolphin Street. I think I am "following" your reading now.
