I currently live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It's beautiful, with many walking, hiking, fishing, hunting, and historic possibilities, which I enjoy as often as possible.

I've been married almost 30 years and have one adult daughter, and one cat.

I'm an Original Trekker, and love almost any & all book, movie, and/or TV... more »

    Hi gurpsgm,

I saw you started a group on 'Left Behind'. My goal is to re-read the series this year. When I read the series before I was waiting for books to be published - now there are all these prequels! Would you suggest I start with the three prequels or go to book 1, 'Left Behind'? Thanks for your advise.

I go back to the chainmail era. I used to have much of the original d&d material and other fantasy books, but I trusted someone else to care for my things in storage (part of a deal we had), I ended up losing 99% of my material. My trust level is zero to most prople except my best friend of 26 years. Most of my playing now days is on the computer or my game cube, playstation, of X-box. Some rgp but, not much now days. I hope Gary rests in peace too. He started a lot of minds working with imagination. I'm not going into my nearest gaming place since he runs his place like his is the only person in the world who knows anything. He does have knowledge, but he starts games and if they don't go his way he finds excuses to kill them. We spend money on miniatures and then he kills the games. A real money maker for him at times. Well have a nice day, hope to hear from you again.

hello. just saying hello. I used to run D&D games many years ago and had many of the old books going back to when gary gygax started. I had them is storage and then my son & daughter in law screwed up and I lost most of them. I used to also own a hobby shop which delt with D&D, minutures and modern micro armor etc. I had to sell because my main sorce of income folded and I had to sell out. I still have some of my gaming material but only a shadow of what I used to have. I doing a lot of video gaming now and I have been thinking of getting into a larp game, but am not sure. anyways I just thought i'd say hi. so hi

I would go with just about the Last Herald Mage trilogy, then the Mage winds, then the Mage Storms. After that I would go with oathbreakers and by the sword. I think that the arrows of the Queen is my favorite of her books and probably of all times.

Just read your profile and saw that you are writing a fantasy series and are looking for editors. As a note you can submit a story excerpt from your big novel to the Writers of the Future Contest. It is judged by science fiction and fantasy greats such as Anne McCaffrey and Orson Scott Card as well as Tim Powers and others. Check out the rules at www.writersofthefuture.com/rules.htm.

Just thought I'd drop by and say hi. Been busy and not been on here for about a week. I watched this cool tv program yesterday on the building of the scenic skyline drive thru the Shannandoah. Did you know that it connects to the one in the lower Appalatians in N. Carolina or Tn. I'm not sure. Then they had a program on how they built the one that goes to Pike's Peak. Amazing how they did it back in the 30 & 40's. I've been reading travel guides from VA. TN. NC and N GA. I think we might just be looking more into SE TN and the Western parts of the Carolinas. N GA is a possible. I've been to Murphy NC and got some good stuff from them and I told my husband I like it there. It'll be a few years yet. Lots to think about.

Hi, I suppose you could say i'm an original Trekker as well. If you consider that I went to my first Convention in uniform 35 years ago as an infant.

You wrote me about reading the last book of the Left Behind series and I apologize for not answering you. I haven't been on my sight lately. Doing other stuff. I just finished reading Chicken Soup for the Scrapbooker's Soul. I'm into scrapbooking, amoung other things. My husband and I have driven thru the Shenandoah Valley and we drove half of the Skyline Drive and went thru Laray Caverns on one of our many trips when we lived in MA. and traveled to Fl and now live in Fl and don't get back North very much. I'm also a Trekker but not a diehard one. I love the first series. I've have all the movies of Star Trek. I live about two hours from Disney World in Orlando and have only been a couple of times. I haven't been like in forever. I've been married for 41 years and have a total of 7 kids, oldest 46 youngest 38. If you read my profile you know I come from a very large family. I'm also into my family geneology. The main thing my husband and I have in common is that we use to go flying. I flew a Cesna Tomahawk and he built and flew a Benson Gyrocopter. Neither of us fly anymore. I never got my pilots license. Too busy raising my kids. I've read a lot more books than what I've listed. In my younger days I was too busy raising my kids to do much of anything else. On tv I watch all the CSI stories. I am also trying to write my life story. I've written some short stories but not published. My oldest brother is more of a writer than I and has published his in magazines. As you can tell by this "note" I like to write.
    Happing reading to you.
