    Rick Riordan

    Save Changes Cancel

I think Rick Riordan is the BEST author of all time. no joke. I mean he actually is one of the top 10 sellers in the WORLD. It started when he wrote percy jackson and the lightning thief, and then it rolled on from there. even though i like his 39 clues books, percy jackson books, and Kane Chronicals books, I really just love the heroes of Olympis series. I love how there is more than 1 narrator. It really makes the book more exciting to me. I also love the new characters, such as Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel, and Frank. I really think Rick Riordan deserves more credit than he is given

He's pretty good. I think it's cool how he combined fantasy with Greek mythology.

    Hey Scooter,

Who is the best character Riordan created? Why?

    Which is your favorite book?

What did you think of the Lightning Thief movie? Should they make another Percy Jackson movie or move on to another series? Which one?

If you could ask Rick Riordan to write a book, what would it be about?

I think Percy Jackson is the best character that Rick Riordan has created because he shows determination, action, timidness, and much more. my favorite book is either the last Olympian or the mark of Athena, but i like his other books too. I think of Percy Jackson as the guy from the movie. that being said, I think that movie was pretty good. they should make another Percy Jackson movie, one by one, from the sea of monsters to the mark of Athena. I'm not sure what book i would want him to write about, because there are too many choices.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond, but I'll be waiting for you to write back!

      Hi Scooter,

I am surprised that you liked him so much in the new series. Usually people like their characters in the original format. Is Percy much different from one series to the other?

How is Prophet of Yarnwood? Were you surprised at how life changed on the surface of the earth after all that time? What troubles did the people from Ember have when they came up? Why were they not really accepted?

What happened that caused the creation of Ember and the changes on the surface? I don't think they ever really tell. What do you think happened?

Scooter- it's been a week, I need to get a response back. You are falling back into bad habits again. You should be checking this every day and responding as soon as possible. Many people respond and write every day about what is happening in their books and questions about things. It's a good habit to get into.

How is "Birdwing"? I want to know what it's about.

Birdwing is a story about a boy (whose name is Ardwin) and his five brothers who were turned into swans by the kings wife. They only got to be human for a small portion of the day, so they could eat and rest. but one day they found their sister and told her that if they were to turn back into humans she would have to go six years weaving six shirts without talking, laughing, crying, or making any other noise. eventually the six years ended and she threw the shirts onto her brothers, but she didn't have enough time to finish the sixth shirt. So Ardwin has to search for a place in life, because his wing separates him from everybody else. but when he finds out his father wants his wing to be severed and give ardwin a arm made of gold, Ardwin must flee to find his way.

      Hey Scooter,

Good job on the response. You had some really great details here. Let's just try and respond a little more regularly.

The story has a 'fairy tale' feel to it. Agree or disagree? Why?

What dangers or adventures does Ardwin run into? Does he use his wings to help himself often? Is there any hope for him to get rid of his wings? I assume he wants to get rid of them.

Do you agree with the decisions Ardwin has made so far? Is there anything he could have done differently?

Hope to hear from you soon,

i agree because birdwing does have many fake creatures, which gives it that fairy tale feeling. ardwin runs into many dangers, but unless you're never gonna read the book, i best not tell you. even though the wing proves many disadvantages, it also proves advantages, such as ability to (sort of) communicate with animals. he does have hope to lose his wing, but he knows that he needs it, he just doesn't know why. i sort of agree with ardwin's decisions, but i just don't see him very prepared, but i like the book alot

      Hey Scooter,

Good response. I can tell you've been doing some deep thinking about the complexities of the book. I really enjoyed reading it and thinking about it myself.

How does Ardwin communicate with the animals? It sounds like he doesn't use speech, but how does he do it? And it definitely seems like the wings provide a major advantage. I mean, everyone would love to fly! What does Ardwin not like them? Is it because he's different?

Why is Adrwin unprepared for what happens? Does he have any other special abilities (besides wings) that he can use to help himself in certain situations? I mean, is he clever or can he make things or something?

What have you liked about the author's style? Is it different or unique in any way?

ardwin communicates with the animals by hearing what they think and responding using speech. the wing doesn't provide an advantage because he only has one. Ardwin doesn't like them, but he doesn't hate them. He is called crippled, a freak, and that is why he doesn't like his wings very much. I think Ardwin is unprepared because he thinks he can do it all. Ardwin is clever, I mean, he can communicate with animals, which is an ability. I think the authors style is a old, medieval style, but not so old that it's like Shakespeare (thank god!), but it is a good style that I like.

      Hey Scooter,

So you've had time. Where is the response? Chasing you for your work is getting tiresome, right now it just lowers your grade. Please be more responsible and get your work done.

Finish up the Birdwing questions and give me some final thoughts on the book. Write me a review. Should I read it? Why or why not?

Where do you want to talk about the next book? Do you want to start a new thread? What is your new book?

      Wondering...

I think the Percy Jackson series is OK, but not really good wrting. I LOVE the Heroes of Olympus series, though. They're really good, exciting, and descriptive. I'm reading the Lost Hero and I just got to the part where they escaped from Aeolus and they're planning what to do next.
