    What Do You Think!

I got this e-mail from Catherine Coulter and I wanted to share it with you. So what do you think?

    Dear Ursula Thompson:

    BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

This is so incredibly exciting. A Brit in the FBI is my new series about an extraordinary Chief Inspector in Scotland Yard, Nicholas Drummond, who amazingly ends up in the FBI in New York City. I've partnered up with J.T. Ellison who is a great writer and has a brain the size of Pluto (Yes, I insist Pluto is a planet).

Each thriller in A Brit in the FBI will have two mysteries (just like the FBI series) and Sherlock and Savich will be a part of the Brit series too, which means you'll get a double dose of S&S every year. You're going to love Nicholas, a great bloke, and his meeting Savich and Sherlock in the first thriller of the series, Jewel of the Lion, is nothing short of a full monty.

I'm not sure what to think about this. I like the idea of the series but I'm always leery of authors partnering on one story or book. Whose "voice" will it be?

I have met a few authors who partner up to write. I saw one book where Marry Higgins Clark teamed up with her daughter to write a story. I think the writing process would determine how the voices mesh. Have you read a J.T. Ellison book? I haven't. I am curious if separate they have similar voices. Or, maybe they will bring the best out of both voices. More than anything, it is intriguing.

I've read the first book in her series, All the Pretty Girls and while I enjoyed the mystery and suspense, I thought her main characters were pretty flat. That's one area I think Coulter does very well.

Maybe Coulter will add her strength to this weakness. :)
