Thanks, Wendy! I am still hoping to set up the "Handi-Bus" to get me to and from work. It may not always be comfortable, but I certainly can sit at a desk to work. It's the getting to and from that is the problem right now! Not sure how quick or slow the red tape is for the Handi-Bus, though, so it may or may not help before I'm better. We'll see. Thought I'd apply, just in case they can get me in before Christmas holidays (we close for about a week, anyway).
My family is out of province. My parents are in Saskatchewan (I'm in Alberta) and my brother is in B.C. Unfortunately, I don't have family here to call upon (well, not family that is close enough, anyway). Oh, I am also single - no husband, no boyfriend. I live with my two cats (and they're no help, dammit! ;-) ). It is good that the basement suite is rented out separately, so the guy downstairs is in charge of shoveling for a while.
I have friends who have come to help with a few things, but I hate asking for help. Unfortunately, in this situation, I have needed to. Luckily, I recently discovered grocery delivery, so that's already set up (though I go through so much milk, that tends not to be enough each week, but it's better than asking friends to do my grocery shopping!).
The good thing is that my parents had already decided (the night before I fell!) that they would come here for Christmas this year. I had intended on going home (though now, I'm certain my knee wouldn't be able to handle 8 hours on a bus!), but they decided to come here this year instead, so they will be here to help with stuff for a few days, anyway.
