Jinx felt her body rush through the river, deep underground. Suddenly she was lifted out of the river, all her aches pains and bruises gone. Above her stood a small creature- familiar and yet not so. I t whispered "Look- it awakens." to some other creatures, brown now, beside it.
One in a tuque hat stepped forward and lifted her up sturdily. It was strong, despite being small and honestly Jinx thought, quite cute. "Gnarl called. Says he wants to see her."
"Unnhhh." Jinx said, the haziness over her eyes passing. "Gnarl? Who are you."
"You see. Soon." replied the creature carrying her. She realized they were heading towards an abyss and started struggling.
"Don't throw me in! I don't want to die- not yet!" she said, with a hint of worry in her voice.
"No throw you in. Gnarl decides." the pointy eared creature said.
They stopped beside a ledge and soon enough a floating rock came into view. The creatures stepped on it and soared off.
They arrived in a throne room and soon enough came upon and older creature, not unlike the others. He looked up for a second then back down. "So... Mortis fished her out of the Well? Strange, he hasn't done that for a human in years."
"Done what?" Jinx managed to ask, despite the terror in her voice.
"Resurrected a human." Gnarl said, keeping his gaze fixed on the mist pool in which a young lad was swinging a mighty axe around.
"What should we do with her?" said a large creature, with a scar running down his back.
Gnarl examined her for five seconds. "Kill her." he replied absently.
Jinx's eyes widened and she jumped back as the creatures lunged for her. While she busied herself pushing some creatures away the one in the tuque hat grabbed onto her neck and clawed at it.
She gasped then her eyes widened in recognition. "You- you're minions, aren't you?" she said, fighting for breathe.
This caught the old minion's attention. "So, you know more than most. What else do you remember?" he said.
"I remember that they served the Overlords and-" she said, breathing fast and shallow. "The last one was Lord Vessperion. Wouldn't that be a new candidate?" she said, pointing weakly to the mist pool.
Gnarl seemed satisfied. "Kniff, release her neck. I prefer a person who can actually talk."
The brown minion nodded and dropped down to the floor. Jinx's eyes widened in barely concealed relief as air flowed into her lungs sharply. "Besides, wouldn't it be helpful to have someone around to help the Overlord?" she said.
"Mmmm... a slave would be very useful." Gnarl murmured, smiling. "Minions- don't kill her. She may be of some use." The minions backed off, some more reluctantly than others. The one in the tuque hat smiled. "Knew she'd pull through." he murmured, sharing glances with the large minion with the scar on his back next to him. "Bet a bottle of rum she makes it on the battlefield Stripe."
"Sure thing." said Stripe, clasping hands with Kniff.
