  The small tabby kit looked out of the entrance. Birds were fluttering about and the sun was shining brightly in the beautiful blue sky. Her long white whiskers twitched with wonder as she padded out into the clearing of the camp. The tall trees of the forest stood outside of the camp barriers. She wondered what it would be like to be out in the forest or the lake. She couldn't help but think of sneaking out, but she couldn't do it. She sat down and just watched everything silently.

  I limped out of the Elder's Den and picked up a mouse from the fresh-kill pile. I went to a a sunny spot near the elder's den and turned my scarred face away from the other cats in the clearing and began to eat the mouse.
