***This discussion has spoilers. If you have not yet read Eternal Kiss of Darkness, please turn back. We wouldn’t want to spoil the story for you.***

    Overview:
An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness...and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.
Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.
At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears - this fearless, beautiful....human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.
But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.

    Primary Characters:
Mencheres: Birth name "Menkaure" Four-thousand-year-old master vampire

I lLOVED this book because it's Mencheres' story and I find him fascinating. He was always so subdued up to this point and I knew he had a complicated backstory. Imagine living as long as he has, being powerful and not knowing if those around you care for you or are just wanting something from you. No wonder he was uninspired. It took a moment for me to figure out he was was trying to get himself killed when Kira intervened.

Kira gave him something to live for as she didn't know who or how powerful he was but risked her life to save him. It nice to watch him come alive.

I also LOVED this book! I loved hearing Mencheres's history. I can't believe he was a pharaoh! I loved that Kira was his "darkness" he saw in his visions. I was glad to finally hear what happened with him killing Patra's lover.. I knew it wasn't just a fit of jealousy, as insinuated by other characters in previous books. And hearing about his sire, it took me a while to realize that he was actually trying to kill himself at the beginning with the ghouls as well. Everything made sense after that though, why he gave co-rulership and some of his power to Bones..

I also loved seeing Vlad's friendship with Mencheres, seeing how much Vlad cared, him crashing the place when he overheard that Mencheres was trying to kill himself... Then him telling him that he should think of his friends that care about him, the next time he thinks about killing himself... I am also glad there was some resolution with Bones and Mencheres.. When he said, that he intervened with Cat, more because he saw how Bones would love her..

I loved seeing how he used his powers intimately with Kira, especially when she realized they were on the ceiling afterward that one time.. I also loved that they wore sheets like togas to go meet Vlad, lol.. just because they were so into each other and therefore late..

I liked Veritas, I hope she is in future books. And I am glad Radjedef is gone. It was kind of brutal that his soul was given to the demon, but he deserved it.

I agree Jonetta, it was so great to watch him come alive after meeting Kira. I am so glad we got his story.
