Authors, put your book(s) on the shelf under the "We've read" category, that way everything is entered equally. New entries will jump to the front so that they can be seen. Join into some of the discussions or start your own.
I do require the authors to respond to at least one discussion thread as well as to enter the book under the appropriate genre thread. This is because we want to become known as a site where readers can really learn about the books. That's what will encourage them to check in regularly. If we don't have this, this site isn't going to do us a lot of good.
I'm going to set up some categories for different genres. If you are a new author with a published book in that genre, feel free to describe it.
If we need a new genre, feel free to start a discussion for that genre and then put in your book.
If an author has an idea for a new discussion thread, go ahead and start it.
However, I reserve the right to remove anything that doesn't meet the criteria of this site. I will also remove anything that is rude or disrespectful to anyone in any way. Life is full of rude people and we don't need any more of them here. So, comment on any thread that catches your fancy or start a new one.
Readers can start new threads too. Just ask a question or bring up a topic. I would like for it to be something that addresses the authors and gives them a chance to discuss their books. Once again, anything rude or disrespectful will be deleted.
The books added to the shelf need to be from new authors who aren't already well known and the storyline should not involve violent sex. It can involve sex and references to sex, but not violence with sex. I don't believe that there is anything romantic about rape or coerced intercourse.
I will also post threads meant to give the authors an opportunity to really describe some facet of their book in detail. Readers are welcome to comment, but please don't enter new books yourself. I want all of the authors to be group members so that they can describe and discuss their books.
If anyone, reader or author, knows of a new author that (s)he would like to see on here, send them an invitation. We would love to hear from them.
