Last book of his I read was Pillars of the Earth. What makes this series so special?

I loved it as much as Pillars Giants follows 5 families in 4 different countries.... thru WWI. It is very historically accurate... very well researched. And even tho it is a long book... it is very easy to read and follow. The next book in the trilogy will be about the children of the characters in Fall and take them thru the Great Depression and WW2. The Third book out in 2014. will be the next generation of kids during the Cold War.

I never thought I would enjoy a 900- page historical fiction covering the medieval period but he proved me wrong with Pillars. I'm going to check this series out. Thanks for the post.

At one of our library's book giveaways the other day, I found a couple Ken Follett's. Picked them up in your honor, Sissy. Well, maybe you and Mr. Chicken, too :)

I love Buck Owens. My parents are from Bakersfield and can remember him trying to make it big. My mom, when she was a kid, lived in the same trailer park as Buck. Many more stories like that. Also, have you heard of The Derailers? They play a kind of country that's called The Bakersfield Sound that Buck kinda started. You might like them as well.

My mom would go down to the Rainbow Gardens every Saturday night to dance and listen to the live singers. That's where Buck was making his big break, his first wife, Bonnie, was a waitress there (my dad remembers her working there). Years later he bought the place and renamed it The Crystal Garden or something like that. That was the same place where my mom was going inside and this guy all dressed up in a western outfit and sequins was outside and asked her to go in and dance. She thought he had to be a hick cause of the way he dressed so she said no. Turns out it was Marty Robbins.
