Ok, so I finally got around to finishing this.
I've been told that this series gets better and the first is not anyone's favorite, but I actually really enjoyed it. True, it did take me quite awhile to get into it, and there was some minor details I couldn't stand, but beyond that, it was a good read. I have a very hard time finding good pirate stories, and this wasn't epic or overly lengthy as some, but still I'd recommend. The one thing that's annoying is that Jacky's got a bit of a slang, which lessens over time, but it might make you stumble over a few sentences until you catch a glimpse of what she means to say. There were also a few other...issues, so I wouldn't suggest younger readers picking this up. And since the majority of the story takes place on a ship, you kinda get disoriented time wise, and since some the character's ages are unknown, half the time they act older or younger than how you assume they should.
Over all, 4 stars :)
