Alright, here I go...
I have to say I didn't necessarily hate it but it's not on my "favorites/I really want to own this" list. I found the plot very unrealistic. I mean, I KNOW it's about mermaids, but I felt the plot needed more depth or something. I do agree about the family. Her brother was just too cute and too perfect. I also found myself extremely annoyed with Lena. Main characters usually do that to me. Either they've got issues they need to work out before the story ends or they're always blaming others. I felt she wasn't giving her family much of a chance, expescially her dad, when they tried to explain things to her. After all, it was for her own good. I'm not a fan of teen romance so I was pleased it didn't completely revolve around her love interests. I did feel a bit miffed at her for giving Kai the cold shoulder most of the time. And I felt like half the time the story was dragging out, and then came to a sudden halt at the end. I need suspense, so this explains why it took me so long to finish. I also found the time underwater was a bit shallow, as far as story. I mean, I could obviously tell her memories were being wiped by the cloak, and there wasn't enough time describing the world. It just happened, and that was that... So, it was a nice quick read, but not a major recommendation.
