more »Hello new Southmoore AP Language JUNIORS! This group is designed for an introduction into the many discussions we'll have this upcoming year. You are reading (have read) Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer, and now you'll share your thoughts, questions, and analysis with all the other incoming English III AP students. This forum is a great place to enter into a literary conversation. You may normally shy away from classroom discussion for whatever reason, but you can now be the “loudest” voice in the room all the while having enough time to create your well thought out commentary and analysis (without the teacher and students staring at you). With that said, please show me your language, grammar, and analysis skills.
This discussion is STUDENT-led! A few teachers might peak in and even join the conversation, but this is a group of students working through a summer reading project together. Ask questions about scenes or chapters, give us your thoughts about questions posed by other students, or even make connections to the text and your personal ventures this summer. However, EVERY discussion’s “post” or “reply” needs to be text-based. If you make a comment, pose a question, or provide analysis, make sure you cite the page number or specific scene/chapter information.
Caveat (warning) – Be respectful. I expect arguments and with arguments, come “sides” that we may join in each discussion, but please use your words wisely. Do not offend with rude language, racist/derogatory statements, or slanderous comments toward another group member. I will delete any posts (or even entire discussions) containing questionable dialogue.
