In the future, it is more important to change the way we think and act, even if we incorporate technology into our future. Even if we advance our technology far beyond what we have currently, if we don't change our actions and thoughts that we use to create new technology to help us, it will end up being self-destructive and it could end up harming us globally. Worst case, it may even lead to the end of a world that we worked so hard to create and nurture. The creation of nuclear and atomic weapons, for example, was supposed to protect and help defend the country during World War 2. It ended up costing tens of thousands of Japanese lives and countless hardships and radiation effects on the children of the survivors. Some good books to understand this topic include "Hiroshima" and "Children of The A-Bomb". As for advancing their thoughts and physical actions, people were letting their emotions cloud their judgement as is sometimes the case with a war based situation. If they had altered their flight or fight response and looked at the bigger picture down the road, they could have solved the situation logically and then took the appropriate technological course of action. The United States could have caused a possibly less devastating outcome to the people of Hiroshima and even all of Japan after the tragedy. This example illustrates that, regardless of the situation you are in, when you are in a position of power, you must analyze the potential outcome not just think by impulse. You also have to think on your feet and come up with a solution, and be prepared to change your actions and thoughts accordingly. As we utilize technology in the future, we must be aware of its long lasting effects. We have to utilize these gifts, but also be aware of what we are doing on a global scale. We must not let our emotions stand in the way of rational judgement. We must anticipate the risks and consequences and use technology that will better the world with a good rationale behind it. As they say, what you put out to the world will come back to you in kind. If we have bad thoughts and actions, the actions themselves with which we use the technology won't allow us to survive. In conclusion, even though we must continue to advance in science and technologically, we must always remember to use our technological resources in a beneficial and humane manner and to put our thoughts and actions before our material ways.
