Mercy -
I stalked closer to the couple, feeling powerful as the scent of their fear wafted towards me. Their eyes were big and tear filled as they clutched each other in terror.
"P-p-please don't hurt us." The woman sobbed, holding her husband close. I smiled darkly, "I would never dream of it." I crouched down in front of them, my respect for the man rose a little bit as he tried to shield his wife from me.
"Let m-my wife go, w-w-we have k-kids." he trembled. I shook my head, "No can do." I whipped my blades out faster than he could see and sliced his pale throat. The woman screamed and jumped away from her dying husband's body. He, himself sank to his knees, his meaty hands clutching his neck, trying to stem the blood flow. I reached out and touched the black looking liquid, reveling in the warm and power that eminated from it. Seconds later, the man fell to his side, completely drained. I stood and went over to the woman, who was now crouched down in ball at the back of the alley, great sobs racking her petite body. I kneeled down, running a hand over her mussed hair, "Do not be afraid, child." She raised her head and looked at me, "Who are you?" I smiled, my eyes turning all black, "I'm your greatest nightmare."
I vaulted up to the roof, leaving the broken bodies in the alley. I knew I was leaving a bloody trail as I saunted over to the opposite edge of the roof top, but I didn't care. I felt sated and satisfied, like a cat who had just eaten a few mice and was laid out in the sun. I looked down at my hands, they were coated in sticky blood, glistening and black in the moonlight. The rest of me wasn't much better - I was practically covered. I smiled lazily and jumped off, opening my wings. With a single powerful downstroke, my hellish wings sent me flying upwards towards the clouds - as close to Heaven as I was ever going to get again because those feathered pea-brains were afraid....afraid of me.
