As Jacob was pushed into the hallway, he say Annie. An older servant woman was holding her wrist, not looking very happy. When the guards came out, Annie hid behind the woman's skirts, scared of the men. But her big blue eyes peeped out, watching Jacob. Then the woman pulled her away.
"dude, where in the name of Zeus are we??" Nathan said, staring at the green pasture and the woods nearby. "were we just,... transported somewhere?" Connor wasnt paying too much attention to Nathaniel. "come on, let's find some people and figure out where we are." Nathan just stared at him blankly. "what?" said Connor. "uh, no comprende? i don't know Italian or whatever that is," Nathan said. that was obvious enough. "what are you talking about-" Connor started, then stopped. it took him a minute to realize he was speaking Italian. where did that come from?? "English please," said Nathan in a bored tone after a couple seconds of silence. "I don't.... know Italian," said Connor, having to think of how to say it in English. Nathan raised an eyebrow. "well, dude, you just spoke Italian or Spanish or whatever that was. Your brain's messed up. but do you think I'll suddenly know Chinese? how cool would that be? we go through a machine and we know a different language!" Connor rolled his eyes and started walking. Nathan followed attempting to speak Chinese. he sounded almost like a newborn.
Monique kept a watchful eye for Connor to come back. She didn't see him. She tried not to worry. Ainsley seemd more content. The whole camp knew Ainsley really liked Connor. as long as Monique wasn't with Connor, Ainsley was happier. She went out of her way to rub it in Monique's face that Connor wasn't with her. Monique tried to ignore her. lunch time was the worst.
"I wonder if he ran away. that would make sense wouldn't it now?" Monique sighed, rolling her eyes. Ainsley's voice had a way of carrying itself well through the lunch pavilion. "after all Monique was clinging to Connor like glue." Monique stabbed her baked carrots with her fork and started counting to ten, hoping that every one wouldn't look at her. she knew Ainsley was. The whole Aphrodite cabin would be. "hey did you notice that she had bags under her eyes morning before last? What were-" Monique stood up and interrupted ainsley. "well, gee, IF he ran away, MAYBE he ran from AINSLEY. ever thought of that? not to name names, but remember when some GIRL got some boy KICKED OUT because of what they were doing?" she said it much louder than she meant. but she wasn't exactly happy right now. she looked at Ainsley. she had gone white, then went red, speechless. "that never happened!" she managed, after a silence and some snickers. the liar. "oh it did," Monique said, walking closer to Ainsely's table, "I was right outside of Chiron's door when he kicked the guy out." Monique walked past her table and left the pavilion. She had no more trouble from Ainsley, at least verbally. but she always gave Monique the death glare when they happened to pass eachother.
