Friendly, cheerful Kimber Moore had lived year-round at camp halfblood since she was seven, a good eight years ago. She was renowned especially for her archery, even though she was just a daughter of Demeter. After saying hello to Chiron at the big house, Kimber walked outside into the warm sunshine, then noticed a small bundle and a note on the porch. She dropped to her knees and read as follows:

    To whom it may concern-
My name? Names are powerful things, and mine is none of your concern. It is a name linked with long years of pain, fear, suffering, and destruction. Do not attempt to find me, as that is impossible to do without my desire.
I bring you this child to protect and raise well. If this is Chiron or some other elder, that is a shame. If this is a demigod, a talented, powerful demigod, then I have a task for you. She is barely two months old, but she needs to be trained at this camp. The lives of many may depend on it. But be warned- she is no demigod. A halfblood, yes, but not a demigod. She is more of a... halfbreed. As am I, of a very different line. The child's sister has been murdered by my parents, and I beseech you to keep her safe. I would myself, but if she remained with me, she would not live long due to who is tracking me.
This girl is probably the most powerful being I have ever seen, besides my own siblings.
    Signed,
    MB

Kimber stared at the note for a long time, then noticed the bundle moving. She unwrapped it to find the beautiful face of a baby girl. Her wide, dark blue-grey eyes blinked in the sudden bright sunshine, but she smiled up at Kimber and cooed sweetly.
"Oh my gods," Kimber whispered, "What am I going to do?"

Kimber swallowed nervously, looking down at the baby's sweet face. "I can't do this by myself," she murmured. "But the note says not to tell Chiron..." She lingered on the porch for a minute, then ran off with the bundle in her arms, toward the forest. Her mom was indeed Demeter, and Kimber felt most safe in nature. Also, the moon was rising, and Kimber sat down and prayed to the goddess who had highly favored her ever since she was very small: Artemis. Kimber tugged on the crescent moon necklace around her neck as she looked down at the baby. "What are you?" she whispered to the infant. "Why are you so important?" A hand fell lightly on her shoulder. Kimber looked up to see the glinting orange eyes of Artemis, the maiden goddess, her tutor and lifelong guide. The glinting eyes fell to rest on the baby girl's face, and Artemis stepped back, as if repulsed. Kimber stared at her. "What is wrong, Lady Artemis?" "That child-" Artemis pointed slowly at the little girl, "Radiates with power. Where did you get her?" Kimber showed her the note. Artemis' eyes narrowed, then she bent down and examined the baby. She found a glowing gold chain around the infant's neck, which read E l l i e in smooth calligraphy. She looked back at the note. "MB," she frowned. "One thing is for certain, a god must be behind this. No mortal or demigod could have made this being, or even some gods. But I do not know of any 'MB'. Neither gods nor titans have last names." The baby sat up in Kimber's lap, and they saw a deep intelligence in those wide dark eyes, as if she knew exactly what they were concerned about, and as if she knew all the answers. Artemis' eyes narrowed to slits as she knelt next to the child. "Where did you come from?" she whispered. The infant girl blinked twice, then pointed a chubby hand at the setting sun. Then she smiled sweetly and promptly fell asleep in Kimber's lap.

Artemis stared off at the sun until it set. "For now," she said slowly, "I think it would be best if you left the baby with the nymphs. You can't run off into the forest too often; people might notice you're missing." She stood up. "I must go. Raise her well. She may make an excellent huntress someday." She disappeared with a flash of a moonbeam.
Kimber looked down at the sleeping baby, then picked her up and walked over to a large tree near the heart of the forest. Resting her hand on the bark, she whispered, "Father, I am here." The tree shivered, and then the wood sprite melted out of the tree. Then, from every surrounding tree, wood nymphs stepped out and gathered around. Her father took the baby, then patted Kimber's shoulder, his green/gold eyes twinkling down at her. "We'll take care of her. We heard your conversation." Kimber smiled in gratitude, then hugged her friends, the twins Deanna and Alec. Their willowy frames and their dark green hair and eyes matched the twin tree that was their home. Deanna spoke. "Someone was here. Someone... Unusual. She was walking through the forest, making no sound whatsoever as she walked in the foliage. She didn't seem... I don't know... Normal. She wasn't mortal."

"It was weird though," Alec continued, "It wasn't a god, or we would've been able to sense their presence. Same with a titan. I tried to follow her, but then she turned invisible." Kimber frowned. "How do you know it was a she?" "Uh, well, I don't think many guys have jet-black, shoulder-length hair with pink streaks in it. It was dark, but with her glowing eyes and all..." Kimber stared at him. "Glowing eyes?" "Yeah, you know, like how a cat's eyes glow in the dark. So did this girl's," Deanna said. Kimber tugged on her bow and climbed up a tree thoughtfully. Hanging upside down from a branch, she commented, "Maybe she was the one who left Ellie here."
There was a crash not far away through the trees. Kimber leapt down as nymphs came running toward them. "Lily?" Deanna asked one of them, "What-" Lily ran right past her, yelling, "Run for your life!!!!!!"
Kimber turned, and saw the army of monsters approaching. Her first impulse was to run, but she couldn't leave the nymphs, or the baby. She drew a golden arrow and fired it at a dracaenae, then dodged behind a tree as a hellhound leapt at her. Before she knew it, she, Alec, and Deanna were surrounded by an enormous mass of creatures that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere.

A telkhine stabbed Deanna. Alec slashed it to pieces with his dagger, but was tackled by a group of hellhounds. Kimber yelped as something bit her arm. Her vision went blurry, as she heard Deanna's and Alec's yells. She struggled, but found some sort of poison now running through her blood, making her slow and groggy. Something else sliced across her stomach, and she doubled over, biting her lip in pain.
"Mon-ter bad!" a tiny voice said. "Go bye-bye!" A glowing light filled the clearing, and Kimber felt the poison in her veins dissolve. She opened her eyes to see that the baby had crawled out of hiding, and was now surrounded by monsters. Kimber opened her mouth to yell in fright, but then the baby laughed, and pointed at each monster in turn. Golden beams shot from her fingertips and dissolved each monster, while the baby giggled and cooed as if she was playing with some toy. Kimber saw Alec sit up and examine where his wounds used to be. Deanna rolled over and found not a scratch on her stomach. Soon the clearing was ridded of monsters, and the baby curled up and fell asleep.
    Silence.
Then someone somersaulted over their heads and landed noiselessly in front of them, ninja style. Whoever it was was dressed in all black, and a glittering black sword hung off a black, spiked belt. Then the stranger pulled off the headcovering and shook out a mane of pink and black hair. The piercing green eyes fixed on Kimber. Kimber got shakily to her feet, then realized how tall the stranger was, at least a foot taller than her. She had a lean, skinny frame, but muscular and agile. Her nearly-white face was adorned with the basic goth look, with the tiny silver stud on the side of her nose, thick black eyeliner, magenta eyeshadow, and cynical expression. She crept around Kimber, and crouched over the baby. "Stupid thing," Kimber heard her mutter, "Never knows how to keep her energy levels even."
Deanna and Alec turned around and stared at the strange, goth girl that had just appeared. For a while, no one spoke. Then Kimber asked hesitantly, "Are you...MB?" The goth teenager turned around and fixed her with her piercing stare. "Yes," she said coolly, "My name is Morgan. Morgan Black." She stood up and leaned back against a tree nonchalantly. "You must be Kimber. The girl who found Ellie. Nicely done." Deanna approached her, her eyes narrowed. "So you're the mysterious non-mortal who was creeping around last night." Morgan shrugged. "I would've actually done a little more to ensure Ellie was secure here, but Mom was on my tail and I had to run. But luckily I managed to lose her quickly enough to get here before Ellie exhausted herself." Kimber looked at her curiously. "So you're a- a halfbreed? Half and half of what?" Morgan scowled, and Kimber involuntarily shivered. "None of your concern," she said absently.

The goth turned around and picked up the small infant. "We should get her into camp before anything else shows up." Kimber nodded hesitantly, then lead the way up the path, waving goodbye to Alec and Deanna, who melted back into their tree. She stopped when they reached the outskirts of the cabin area. "So, Morgan, are you-" "Am I going to be staying at this camp? Yes, for a little while. But I can't stay in one place or too long." Kimber raised an eyebrow. "And you knew exactly what I was thinking how?" Morgan smirked. "One of many talents." She handed Kimber the baby. "Take her to the Athena cabin. That's where she belongs." Kimber frowned. "But the way she manipulated light back there... she isn't an Apollo kid?" "I should certainly hope not," Morgan scoffed, obviously disgusted by the mere mention of Apollo. "There is an explanation, but you don't need to know right now." She sighed. "If you need anything, I'll be in the forest, the arena, or possibly even my cabin." "Your... cabin?" Kimber asked hesitantly. "I thought you said you weren't a demigod." "I'm not. But my dad is..." She nodded shortly at a dark, gloomy cabin nearby. "Hades."

    Morgan's POV:
I walked into my cabin. Finding it empty, I sat down on an empty bunk and pulled out a memory. The photo was of a battle scene between two titan-size beings. One was Asteria, in her full splendor. The other was a young-looking boy, with jet black hair streaked with bright blue, and piercing green eyes that flashed with determination. In the background were two preschool-aged girls, with jet-black hair streaked with neon pink, and the same green eyes. The girls were identical, and they were cringing in fear, watching the battle between their mom and brother. I hid away the picture and looked for a different one quickly.
The sight of my brother and sister pained me. I blinked away a tear and pulled out a video clip. This was one of our few happy times... I enlarged it, then leaned back to watch, tears brimming in my eyes. The video showed the following:
Three kids were walking through a green meadow, talking and laughing. There was no mistaking the colored hair, the pale skin, and the bright green eyes on all three of them; but what was unusual was the happy smiles and the light, joking atmosphere. The three of them walked over a bridge above a waterfall, and one of the girls leaned down to touch the water. "Make a diamond flower, Crystal," the other girl said. The first one picked up a handful of water, then swirled it through the air. It sparkled and flashed, then formed a solid jewel. "Here Morgan." She handed it to the second girl. "Here Zeke," Morgan handed it to the boy next to them. He took it carefully, then threw it into the air. It glimmered, then exploded into fireworks. He jumped into the air and flew among the sparks, tumbling and performing stunts. "Show off!" Crystal jumped into the air and started chasing him around in circles, then Morgan followed, throwing handfuls of water at them and laughing.
I let the tears flow freely as I watched the triplets laugh and fly around like crazy, as if they didn't have a care in the world.
"We were seven," I breathed, watching Crystal's and Zeke's faces. We looked so... so happy, and carefree. I put the memory away. The next one was much different.
I pulled out another memory. This one showed the following scene:
"CRYSTAL!" A shriek pierced the dark night. A dark room was shown, and a girl was shown, chained to the wall, being tortured. A girl identical to her was lying on the ground, in a pool of blood, motionless. A tall, dark woman stood nearby, giving commands to the person torturing the girl chained to the wall. "Now, Zeke, stop showing compassion for your sister. Morgan deserves this, and you don't want it to happen to you, now do you?" The torturer turned so his face was visible to us. His white face tear-streaked and blood-stained, there was no mistaking my brother. When he hesitated, the woman jabbed him with an electric spear, and he yelled. Then he turned back to the girl in chains. "Please, Zeke," she begged, "You can't, please, no, AAAAAAA!" The girl screamed as he stabbed her in the shoulder with a dagger. "Please, no! NO! Please! Look what you did to Crystal!! Please, NOOOO!!"
I dissolved the memory with a wave of my hand, the scream lingering in the air. That had been me at age twelve.
I bit my lip so hard it bled as I watched Zeke's pained face. My mom had ruined him. She had mind controlled him so he was forced to hurt us. And then that had led to Maia's end. I pulled out another memory.
At first, the only things visible were blinding flashes. Then the clashes of swords were heard. Some mist cleared away to show all three triplets, nearly fifteen years old, fighting both of our parents. All of us were in our full splendor, standing nearly thirty feet tall and glowing. Then Asteria briefly stood back. "I can promise you, there will be consequences for this," she hissed. Everyone stopped to look at her. An orb glowed in her palm, and a young girl appeared in her hand, around age twelve or thirteen. "Maia!!!" Zeke shouted, "Don't touch her!!!" Asteria threw back her head and laughed. "Not with your recent behavior." Maia suddenly screamed, clutching her chest. Then Zeke collapsed to the ground, clutching his head and yelling. "Crystal DO something!" one of the girls yelled. The other one dropped next to Zeke and held his face in her hands, chanting words in a foreign language. Hades grabbed her shoulder, and she whirled around to meet his blade with her own. Morgan ran to her brother, only to stop in her tracks as he woke up. His green eyes were black. Asteria had taken control again. "Well, Zeke," Asteria said absently, how about you kill Maia for me." Even with the mind control, Zeke froze. "I- I- I can't." "Oh yes you can." He took a hesitant step toward her, then shook his head vigorously."I can't..." he whispered. "Fine then. You are apparently no longer of any use to me." He screamed and collapsed to the ground, writhing on the ground in pain. She looked down at Maia. "Kill them all," she said smiling. Maia shivered, her face panicked, and she transformed into her full splendor. "No," she mouthed, as she watched her own hand draw her dagger. "No, please." Asteria laughed. "Your mind is weaker than theirs, Jade. You can't do anything to stop yourself." Maia had reached Zeke, and was gripping the dagger. She looked at his eyes, which were back to green, and screamed, "NOOOO!!!!" Her hand lifted the dagger to strike him, but she swerved it around- and stabbed herself. Meanwhile, Hades had pinned Crystal against a rock, and Asteria grabbed Zeke by the shoulder. Morgan ran at her, but was thrown backward. She smashed against a rock, but quickly got up and ran at Zeke again. "Maia," he was sobbing, "No, please, not Maia... Morgan no!! Save yourself!! She's gonna kill you!!" Morgan hesitated, then was blasted into the air by a beam of magic from Asteria's sword. She tumbled to the ground, but before she hit the ground, she disappeared.
I dissolved the memory and put them all away. Tears flowing down my face, I buried my face in my arms, silently weeping.

    Kimber's POV:
I walked up to the door of the Hades cabin, and found it open a crack. I peered in cautiously, and found Morgan- crying? She spotted me and disappeared. Reappearing in front of me, she grabbed a fistful of my shirt and lifted me off the ground a couple inches. "Don't come in here without permission," she growled. She threw me down and walked back to her bunk, and I saw her wiping tears off her face. "What's wrong, Morgan?" I whispered. She shot a glare at me. "None of your concern." A small voice said, "She misses them." Ellie toddled into the room. "She's been growing at an incredible rate," I said to Morgan. Morgan looked down at the toddler and nodded absently. "I know. She's hardwired that way. In case she ever ends up somewhere... unpleasant, so she can defend herself." I looked at Ellie, then back at Morgan. "Misses who?" I could have sworn Morgan was going to set the place on fire with that glare of hers, but instead she said faintly, "My siblings."
I looked at her, intruiged, but said nothing, not wanting to anger her more. Ellie toddled up to Morgan and said, "I didn't know that." "Know what?" she asked. "I did not know that your brother loved my sister." I was worried Morgan might hurt the little girl for saying such a thing, but Morgan just looked out the window. "Yes," she breathed, "They loved each other. A lot. And then Mom went and ruined it. She ruined everything."

    Kimber's POV:
Morgan stared out the window, saying nothing more, tears no longer running down her face. "Come, Kimmie," Ellie tugged on my hand, "We leave Morgin alone now." We walked out of the Hades cabin, into the fresh air. The sight of Morgan pained me, but I quickly forgot the pain as my best friend ran up to us. Violet Jorden, daughter of Poseidon and a water nymph. "Hey Kimber," she said brightly, her sapphire eyes sparkling, "Who's this?" "This is Ellie. New camper." "Coolness! Never seen one so young. Who's her parent?" In reply, Ellie suddenly turned into an owl and flew around her head. Landing on the ground and changing back to a human, Ellie said cheerfully, "Mommy is Athena!" Violet laughed. "Very nice. Oh, Kimber, have you seen Tyler? He stole my bow, and I have to go strangle him." I laughed and shook my head. Violet and her cousin Tyler, son of Aeolus, were constantly at each other's throats. We walked to the lake, and immediately found him. He was surfing, without a surfboard. Instead, the water supported him while the wind pushed him. I couldn't help notice the crowd of Aphrodite girls sitting on the beach nearby, watching him. Violet saw them too, and rolled her eyes. "The freak... Tyler get over here!!" He saw us and grinned, then surfed toward us, his golden hair ruffling in the breeze. "What?" "Gimme my bow." He took a hairclip out of his pocket. "What, this?" He clicked it, and it turned into a slender, sapphire-encrusted silver bow. He twanged the string, then dropped it in the water. "Whoops." Violet splashed him in annoyance, then dived down to get it. He laughed and flew up into the air. "Hey Kimber. Who you got there?" Ellie scowled up at him. "I is Ellie. You is mean." Violet came out of the water, a silver arrow notched in the retrieved bow and aimed at him. "Not funny." He laughed and zoomed off, the winds carrying him.

    Violet's POV:
I rolled my eyes. "He is such a jerk. I wish we could follow him, to see where he runs off to. But I can't fly." Ellie looked up at me. "I can!" she said brightly, "See?" She jumped into the air and flew around in circles, then stopped when she saw my necklace. "What that?" she asked, pointing. I tugged on the crescent moon on the necklace. "Artemis gave it to me. I'm going to become a huntress next year, when I'm old enough." Ellie frowned. "Ar-teh-miss? I saw her when I got here. Moon? I sun. We no go together." I looked at Kimber. "You saw Artemis?" Kimber nodded, tugging on her own necklace, identical to mine. "When I first found Ellie." "Where'd you find her?" "Um.." I could tell she was hiding something. Kimber was the worst at hiding secrets, which ended up very amusing at times. "What secret are you attempting to keep now?" I sighed. She swallowed nervously, then pointed at the Hades cabin. Curious, I walked toward it, and heard them following me. I knocked on the door. It swung open. "I TOLD you- Oh. Um, hi." The appearance of the teenager speaking kinda spooked me. She was ghostly white, and the gothic look made her look like a demon from hell or something. Hey, just being frank. "I'll pretend I didn't hear that." A voice spoke in my mind, and I jumped. Wha... Dude, did that girl just read my mind?? I followed her inside. "Who're you?" She didn't answer for a moment, then turned, and saw Kimber. "You," she muttered, "I thought I made it clear to keep it a secret." Kimber swallowed nervously. "She doesn't know anything.... yet..." The goth sighed and sat down. "Look, the only reason I'm putting up with you two is because you're both not normal demigods, okay?" I raised an eyebrow. "As in how?" "As in you're both daughters of a god or goddess and a nymph. You're halfbreeds." At the mention of the last word, I saw Kimber react. I gave her a quizzical look. The goth shook her head. "Not like me or Ellie. We're much worse." She pulled out her sword and stared at the black blade, lost in thought. Then she spoke again, "I could just make you go away. But seeing as how I haven't been able to do it alone, maybe I actually could use your help." She fixed us with her piercing green eyes. "Violet Jorden, my name is Morgan Black. I am not mortal. Kimber found Ellie where I had put her for someone here to find as I was running away from my mom. I left a note with Ellie, mentioning that Ellie and I are halfbreeds. Not demigods, but half and half of something else. What I'm about to tell you could put your lives in danger. You still want to know?" I nodded, my mouth dry. "Ellie's mom is indeed Athena, goddess of wisdom. But her father is no mortal or god. He is a titan; the titan Helios, lord of the sun."

    Morgan's POV:
I watched their expressions as the information sank in. "That's right," I said softly, "She and her older sister Maia are, or were in Maia's case, daughters of Helios and Athena. But Helios is a relatively benevolent titan, compared to my parents. And since I've already told you this much, I may as well tell you my parentage. My dad is Hades, which is why I'm in here. My mom... My mom is Asteria, titaness of the night sky, prophecy, and necromancy. She's the one hunting me down right now, because she wants all three of us under her control." Violet looked at me. "All three of us?" I shook my head. "Not you two. She already has two, and they're either in her control, being tortured at this moment, or dead." I looked out the window. "Their names are Crystal and Zeke. They are my triplets." I pulled out the third memory I had watched earlier. I pointed them out as I spoke. "That is Crystal and I... That is Zeke, obviously... That is Asteria... and that is Maia Jade." I looked down at Ellie. "Ellie's sister," I breathed. I looked back at the memory, when Zeke caught sight of Maia and was trying to get her back. "And as Kimber knows, my brother loved her. So much." I looked back at the memory. When Maia raised the dagger, being commanded to stab Zeke under mind control, and instead stabbed herself, Violet shrieked. "What??? You didn't tell me this was gonna be that depressing!!!!!" I sighed wearily. "I'm afraid that was only a small part of it, Violet. If you would like to back out, I can clear your mind and let you go." She shook her head cautiously. "Um, I''m okay... Besides, I'll get away from Tyler..."
"Why would you want to do that?" said a voice in the doorway. Tyler popped into view, then noticed Morgan. "Um, who is this?" I sighed, annoyed. "Another one, eh? Well," I looked at him, my eyes narrowed. "Violet can explain it all to you on the way. But now, let's prepare to leave. You all aren't properly equipped." I lead them out of the cabin, and toward the forest. Kimber asked, "Wait, shouldn't we get armour and stuff?" I rolled my eyes. "Just wait." When we reached the woods, I turned around. "Ellie, this is for you. You don't really need much else." I handed her a lightweight, shimmery shirt. "It's armour. Very light, but very effective." She pulled it on. "Prettieeee!" I turned to the other three, handing them similar shirts. "Wear these under your shirts. Otherwise you'll attract a little attention. And your weapons from your cabins," I waved a hand, and Tyler's sword appeared on his belt, and Kimber's bow appeared in her hand, a quiver of arrows materializing and strapping itself to her back, and Violet already had her bow. I nodded. "I'll give you other armour and gadgets as we go along. This should be good enough. Oh, except these," I gave them all a black knife. "Those will come in handy when you're in a scrape." I walked with them through the forest. "Right, has everyone here travelled by shadow?" Violet, Kimber, and Tyler all shook their heads. "Fabulous," I muttered, "Well, have fun." I kicked a rock, and it blasted open a shadow portal. It sucked them all in, and I went last, closing it behind us.

    Zeke's POV:
I leaned back against the wall of my cell and closed my eyes, trying to rid my thoughts of the screams I had heard today. My thoughts drifted, and then focused on the faint memory of Maia. A tear rolled down my cheek at the mere thought of her name. I remembered before, before she had stabbed herself instead of me. I pulled a worn photograph out of my pocket. It was a picture of the two of us, back when I was, hm, nearly fourteen. Maia was sitting in my lap, a big smile on her face as I hugged her. I didn't have half as many scars back then as I did now, either, I thought, tracing the somewhat fresh scar along my right cheek absently. Then the door opened, and I quickly pocketed the picture. Crystal was shoved in, and she collapsed, moaning faintly. The door slammed. I ran to her side and found several new wounds in her pale skin. Deep gashes covered her arms and torso, and golden blood was already pooling on the floor. I quickly did what I could to heal her. "How much?" I whispered in her ear. She opened her eyes and looked at me. "All of it." I closed my eyes, pained. I had done all of it this time. This was happening more and more often now. Instead of using one of the torturers from Dad's realm to torture Crystal and I, Mom put me under mind control and made me torture my sister. She took my hand, and I opened my eyes. "It's going- it's going to okay, Zeke," she said hoarsely. Then she started coughing up blood, and I wasn't sure I believed her. "I wonder where Morgan is," I breathed, wishing the cell had a window I could look out. "I wonder if she got away, and is safe right now." "She can't be very happy," Crystal said faintly, "Remember the look on her face when we told her to run, to go without us?" I nodded. "I hope she's okay," I said, "I hope she made it." Crystal finally recovered her breath and sat up. "I think she's going to come try to rescue us." I looked at her. "That wouldn't be smart.." She shook her head. "No, but knowing Morgan? And I just had a vision." All three of us had received our parents' powers, but each of us speciallized in one particular area. Crystal speciallized in one of Mom's powers: prophecy. "What did you see?" "I saw.. I saw another battle. At first I thought it was the one from the past, but others were with us. People I've never seen before. And.. And... Oh Zeke, Maia was there! And- And her little sister!" I clutched her hand at the mention of Maia's name. "You think? But... no. It... It cannot be. I watched Maia die, Crystal. She-" "You never know, Zeke. Us halfbreeds, we're hard to kill. You of all people would know." I nodded admittingly. "True... You said her little sister?" "There's no mistaking the resemblence. And where Maia specializes in her mom's powers, this toddler is without a doubt her daddy's girl." "Hmm." I leaned back against the wall. Maia could be alive. Possibly. But probably not. But there was hope. A little.

    Crystal's POV:
I shook off my exhaustion and stood up. "But right now, we have to figure out how we'll ever get out of here," I said, pacing the room. I looked down at my brother, and tousled his blue and black hair. "I probably shouldn't have mentioned her name, huh?" He looked up at me. "Maybe. But it gave me a little hope." "That's always a good thing," I commented, offering him a hand. He took it, and I pulled him to his feet. "Now we need a plan." "Like the plans we've been trying to come up with over the past two years? I doubt we'll get much better." I shrugged. "You never know." I paced the cell again, then my sword materialized in my hand. "We could start with retraining ourselves." He raised an eyebrow. "We haven't fought with swords in who knows how long, Zeke, we gotta freshen up a little." He shrugged, and his own sword materialized in his hand. "Careful though, you were just nearly tortured to death. You might not be entirely.. stable yet." I yawned. "I'm getting used to it, dude." I attacked him. He blocked the swing easily, then stabbed at my stomach. I dodged and swung at his head. Our blades clashed. "It's been a while since I've used this blade," he said thoughtfully, looking at it. Then he swung it around and sliced it across my back. I healed it and stabbed him in the arm. The cut sealed and we continued fighting. After quite a while, we both tired and sheathed our swords. "That was refreshing," I commented, dissolving my sword into thin air as he did. Then the door opened behind us. "On our feet? My my, you have too much energy, child. Let us fix that." I turned around to see Asteria in the doorway, smirking. "Zeke, punish your sister." Zeke's expression melted from rejuvenated to horrified. "No, please, no," he whispered, as his green eyes turned black, Mom taking over. He shuddered, and then drew his sword again. "Hurt her," Asteria said casually. I backed away from him as he advanced on me. Not again. Oh please, please, please not again. I thought about drawing my sword, but I didn't want Mom to take it. I jumped out of the way when Zeke stabbed at me, but then his hand grabbed me by the shoulder and pulled me back. Pinning me to the wall, his sword against my throat, his blank black eyes showed no sign of recognition as I whispered, "Please, Zeke, don't, please don't-" I screamed in agony as his sword slipped into my skin and slowly began to carve a pattern in it. He drew a dagger and stabbed me in the side. The poison on the blade burned through me, and I doubled over with a yell. He punched the side of my head, and I fell to the ground, with him standing over me. The next hour or so was a blur as Asteria gave him commands, and he tortured me. My own brother. Forced to brutally hurt me. Finally, after hours of screaming and crying, I slipped into blissful unconsciousness.

    Ellie's POV:
We appeared in a dismal looking field. Any plants that had grown there were destroyed, and all that was left of them were ashen skeletons. When Kimber appeared next to me, she freaked out and began attempting to regrow the trees. "We are in the underworld, Kimber. Nothing grows here unless it is allowed to," Morgan said to her. We walked through the field to a large expanse of jagged rocks, which led to another field, which led to a fortress. I lightly stepped on a rock and looked at all of them. "We go find them in there?" I pointed at the fortress. Morgan looked at all of us, then looked at the fortress, a glint of longing in her slightly glowing eyes. Tyler still looked confused. "Anyone wanna explain this to me now?" Violet smirked. "We're gonna go attack Hades and bring own the underworld as we know it." "Liar," he muttered. Kimber sighed and began to explain everything to him, Violet watching his expressions in amusement. I toddled over to Morgan. "Morgin? Can you sense them?" She shook her head. "Asteria has masked their presence." "Oh," I said, disappointed. "I wish Maia was here. She would know what to do." "She always did," Morgan murmured ruefully, "She even knew a way to keep Zeke alive when mind controlled. But it cost her her life." I nodded, frowning. "That isn't right." Morgan said nothing, then looked at the others. Tyler was ashen-faced. "Are you insane??" he asked Morgan. She pretended to think. "Mm, a little bit." She drew her sword and pointed it at each of us. Something shimmered in the air in front of us, and surrounded us. "What's this?" Kimber asked curiously. "It's armour." "Huh?" "What, you think I'm not wearing armour? You think I'm stupid?" I looked at her. It was true, all it looked like she was wearing was ripped black jeans, a fitted black shirt with a gothic design on it, a spiked black belt, and black converse shoes. "Morgin?" I asked curiously, "You picked your last name, didn't you? Because your parents don't have last names. You picked Black because you like black?" "You could say that," she said absently. "Oh. Did Maia pick my last name?" She nodded and looked down at me. "She picked Jade in reference to the color of Zeke's eyes, actually." "Oh." I looked back at the fortress. "Let's go see him then." A brilliant gold bow appeared in my hand. I looked at everyone. "First-" I pointed at them, and they turned invisible. "Follow me and Morgin. Only you guys can see us," I said importantly. Then I followed Morgan across the rocks.

    Zeke's POV:
I woke up, panting fast. I wasn't in the cell with Crystal; I was in Mom's throne room, chained to the wall. I struggled, but the thick metal wouldn't give. Asteria materialized in front of me. "Hello, son," she said to me, "Do you know why you are here?" I hesitated, then shook my head. She stepped closer, and I saw she held a knife in her hand. "It's not what you think, actually," she continued, her voice dangerously quiet, "It is because this creature has been found." She raised a hand, and a glass cage lowered to where I could see it. It took me a minute to realize who it was, and then my heart stopped. "Maia?" I said inaudibly. Asteria nodded absently. "The brat is not dead, unfortunately." The cage moved closer, and I saw that the limp form inside was lying in a pool of blood. "Let her go," I said, looking at Asteria, "Please." She laughed. "The desperation in your eyes is amusing. No, I will not. I will just use her as... an incentive." She smiled, fixing me with her evil black eyes, her dagger slowly raising. Then my eyes widened. Over her shoulder, I saw a brilliant gold arrow pierce through the dim air, and it shattered the glass Maia was in. Asteria whirled around and went over there, and then the person I hadn't seen in two years appeared in front of me. I felt like crying with happiness. "Morgan?" I breathed. She smiled, and I saw tears in her eyes. She broke open the shackles on my wrists, and I stepped away from the wall. "Emotions later. We have lives to save," she said to me. We drew our swords simultaneously, and approached the center of the room. Asteria was there, but she suddenly seemed to notice something across the room. As she walked over there, Morgan and I ran to Maia. She looked beyond dead, her dark chocolate brown hair caked with dried blood and her pale face stained with tears, blood, and dirt. Her skin was covered in gashes and bruises, and I immediately gathered her in my arms and began to heal her. Morgan helped, and soon the girl was cleaned up and simply looked asleep. "I shall leave you to her," Morgan whispered, and walked away. A scream pierced the air. Violet was staring at Asteria, cowering in a corner. Then Ellie shot Asteria in the back with an arrow, and the titaness whirled around. "What is this?" she asked, approaching Ellie. "Another one? Mmm, yes, I know your bloodline." I looked down at Maia again. "Maia," I breathed, stroking her cheek, "Wake up, please Maia, wake up." Black sparks glittered on my fingertips, and they sank into her mind, rehabilitating it. She coughed faintly, then opened her eyes. The grey eyes widened when she saw me, and her small hand clutched my shirt. "Zeke?" Tears welled in my eyes. "Maia, I'm here." I leaned down and kissed her.

    Kimber's POV:
I ran down the corridor with Tyler. "Which way?" He pointed, and we kept running. A hellhound jumped out at me, and I shrieked. He stabbed it and pulled me to my feet. "We don't have much time," he muttered. We ran until we found the cell door Morgan had told us about. "I got this," I said, determined. An ivy vine began growing out of my hand. I held it to the lock, and it grew into the works until it was jammed. Then I dissolved the plant, and the lock loosened. I kicked it, and it busted open. "Very stylish," Tyler commented. I opened the door and peered inside. A figure was lying on the ground, curled up in a ball, shivering. As I opened the door a little more, the figure noticed the light and sat up, a sword appearing in her hand. "Morgan?" I blurted. She shook her head, her eyes wide. "You- you know Morgan?" she rasped. Then she started coughing up blood. Golden blood. I knelt at her side. "You- You must be Crystal." I handed her a healing herb. She looked at me, then ate it. "Thank you," she said, breathing normally. "Yes, I am Crystal, one of Morgan's triplets." Her eyes suddenly widened and she grabbed my shoulders. "Where is Zeke? Asteria took him and said he would 'regret his rebelliousness', after she made him torture me." I shrugged. "I don't know. Right now we're all fighting in the throne room." "The throne room??" "Yeah, Morgan Ellie and Violet went in there to rescue Zeke and Maia." Her grip tightened on my shoulders. "Maia?? Maia's alive? And Morgan's here?" I stood up, and offered her a hand. She took it, and I pulled her to her feet. "Come with us and see for yourself." She looked at me and Tyler. "Let's go." We ran back down the corridors until we found the door to the throne room. "Ready?" Tyler asked us, peering in. "Not sure.." I muttered, gripping my bow. Crystal swallowed, then burst open the doors without touching them, and strode into the room, Tyler and I following.

    Maia's POV:
I felt Zeke's soft lips on mine, and I wasn't sure if I really had died, and I was in heaven, or if I was alive, and he really was here, holding me in his arms.
He gently pulled away, and his green eyes met my grey ones. "I knew I'd see you again," I breathed. He nodded, then stood up, and helped me to my feet. "Unfortunately our work here isn't done," he said to me, looking over at Asteria. She was advancing on a little girl who looked like she was about three. But then I heard a dark-haired girl near her say, "Ellie, run! She's gonna kill you!" First I scanned the dark haired girl's mind. Violet Jorden, daughter of Poseidon. Then I thought, Ellie? Ellie... The name was familiar... I had heard my mom say it once.. Then Ellie created a sun, and I knew. She chucked it at Asteria, then turned invisible. The doors burst open, and Crystal strode in with two others. I scanned their minds. Kimber, daughter of Demeter, and Tyler, son of Aeolus. I drew my dagger, and we surrounded Asteria. And she laughed.
"You all are so cute." Hades materialized next to her. The room darkened to pitch black. Zeke squeezed my hand, then I heard him draw his sword. I took a deep breath, then formed a glowing sun in my hands. It grew and rose to the ceiling. I saw Ellie across the room, doing the same thing. Then the ground split open, and hordes of black skeletons crawled out and encircled us. The triplets and I exchanged looks, and then we transformed into our true forms in huge bursts of light and energy.

    Tyler's POV:
    Whoa. Dude.
I collapsed behind a pillar as there was a huge earthquake and then a massive flash of blinding light. Stars winked in front of my eyes even after the flash. Then I looked up. The triplets and Maia were all standing about thirty feet tall, and so were Asteria and Hades. I turned, and found a crowd of skeletons around me. Taking a deep breath, I summoned my strength and wind blew them across the high-ceilinged room, and they smashed against the wall and crumbled into dust. I crept out from behind the pillar, then snatched Violet out of the way as a skeleton stabbed at her. Setting her on her feet, I muttered, "Now what?" She looked out at the beginning battle scene among the titans/gods and the hordes of skeletons and appearing monsters, then up at my face. "We fight for our lives I guess. Sound fun?" "Let's do it." I drew my sword. "Where's Kimber?" She pointed across the room. Kimber was standing on a ledge way up high on the wall, shooting down monsters with arrow after arrow, her serene face calm and not showing any fear. "She's amazing," I muttered subconsciously, watching her agile figure jump from ledge to ledge as she avoided death. Violet slapped me. "Ohh no, don't even think about it. Kimber's my best friend, and you're my arch enemy." I grinned sheepishly, then stabbed something creeping up behind her. "Watch your back, Purple." "Ugh, whatever, Airbrain." She climbed up a bannister and perched there nimbly, shooting at monsters. If this hadn't been a life-or-death situation, I would've been tempted to have a wind knock her off. But not now. I looked up again. Asteria was talking to the four halfbreeds. And they looked pretty scared, in my opinion.

    Morgan's POV:
I glared at my mom as she looked at all four of us. "You can't win this time, Asteria. I know you can sense it," Crystal said defiantly. Asteria laughed again. "Nonsense. I will deal with you just like last time, but incorporate even worse punishments for the bad behavior, trust me." Maia clutched Zeke's arm, and he held her protectively. It made me both sad and happy to see the two of them together again; happy because they had missed each other so much, but sad because they might be torn apart again in a few minutes. I destroyed a group of monsters by stepping on them, then gripped the hilt of my sword. "You wish." With a glance at Crystal, I attacked, the same time she did. Asteria whipped out her own black sword and stopped both our blades with one hand. "Nice try, halflings." She suddenly winced, and Maia scampered away from her, clutching a now bloody dagger. Zeke stepped in front of Maia, and began to fight Hades, defending her. Maia pointed at the ceiling, and more sunlight filled the room. I could see Asteria's vengeful expression. She took a step toward me, then pointed at Kimber. The Demeter girl abruptly stopped shooting down monsters, and tumbled off the ledge. I heard a "NO!!" and saw Tyler and Violet racing toward her. Asteria pointed at Violet, and the girl flew up through the air and was chained to the ceiling. Tyler saw Asteria, turned into a wind, and rushed through the monsters over to Kimber, reappearing at her side. Asteria raised her hand again to point at him, but I tackled her.
    And the fight began.

    Kimber's POV:
One minute I was fighting swarms of monsters all by myself, next minute I'm tumbling toward the ground. I hit it, and blacked out.
    ***
I woke up to find Tyler clutching my hand, murmuring, "Oh Kimber, please wake up, we need you, I need you, please wake up, don't leave me-" He noticed I was now awake, reddened slightly, and helped me to my feet. "We got problems," he muttered, "Look." He pointed at the ceiling, where Violet was hanging, then at the halfbreeds, who were now fighting their parents in full out battles, and then at the monsters, which were advancing on us. I touched my head to feel a cut on it. "Great, just great..." I took a deep breath, then shrieked when I felt myself being lifted upward. When I was set down, I realized Tyler had just carried me up to a high ledge, out of the monsters' reach. "Um, thanks," I said, biting my lip. He smiled to himself. "Violet's never gonna forgive me for this-" He grabbed my head and kissed me.
    Oh gods.
I couldn't really find the strength to pull away. One minute I had been panicked, now I was completely relaxed, wrapped in his arms. The only reason we pulled away was because of Violet's voice: "You FREAKING IDIOTS! We're in the middle of an INTENSE BATTLE, and you FREAKS are MAKING OUT?!?!?! WHAT in the NAME of POSEIDON do you THINK you are doing to my BEST FRIEND, TYLER?!?!?!?!? IF we get out of this ALIVE, I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!" Tyler pulled out of the kiss slowly, then grinned. "I called it." Then he turned into a wind and went up to get Violet down.
I felt myself going very pink. Tyler, the bane of my best friend's existence, liked me? I had to admit, it was pretty idiotic of him to make a move in the middle of a BATTLE.... But hey, that was Tyler for you.
    But really.
    Wow.
    Tyler? Of all people?
I blushed even more and fired several arrows at the monsters below.

    Maia's POV:
I heard a piercing scream, and saw Morgan keel over, clutching her side. Crystal attacked Asteria before she could hurt her further, and I ran over, invisible. "Heal," I breathed, lightly touching the grievous wound in Morgan's side, stopping up the golden ichor. Then I heard Zeke yell, and I immediately ran back to him.
    Oh no.
Hades had put on his Helm of Darkness. Now no one could see him, hear him, or feel him. One could only feel his blade, as it stabbed you with its merciless iron. And Zeke was backed in a corner, clutching his shoulder, wildly looking around. Gold blood was seeping through his fingers, and as I watched, another gold wound appeared in his side, and he yelled again. I saw a faint flash of where Hades' sword left him, but it was gone in a blink. I formed a sun in my hand. "Zeke!" I yelled over the din, "Duck!" He did, just as I threw the sun at him. It smashed into the wall where he had been a second ago. Its trail was bright, but there was a shadow in the middle of it. Zeke saw it too, and ran to me when I turned visible. I helped heal him, then whispered, "What are you going to do now?" Then someone seized me from behind. Instead of panicking, I closed my eyes, and started to glow. The glow showed Zeke the shadow behind me, and he tackled me. Pushing me out of the way, he yelled, "MORGAN! HERE! NOW!"
The triplets could do all their mom's powers, but each speciallized in a certain one. Crystal speciallized in prophecy, while Morgan speciallized in night, and the night sky. Morgan pulled out of the fight with her mom, and ran over to him. I drew my dagger and went to take her place in the fight next to Crystal. Then I realized something with a jolt. While the others were being wounded, I wasn't feeling a thing. My curse was gone??

    Violet's POV:
I cursed in Ancient Greek as soon as Tyler got me down. "I swear, when we're done here, I'm gonna-" I shot a monster that jumped at us. "Violet, there's no time for that," Kimber said next to me. "Traitor," I said aggravatedly, elbowing her in the ribs. Then I pointed at the ground. About seven feet of water flooded the place. I left the water there, until most of the monsters had drowned, except for the ones who could breathe underwater. Kimber and I shot the rest of them, and then I shrieked when someone appeared in front of my face. "Oh.. Ellie... Don't do that, okay?" She stuck her tongue out at me. "Next time warn me, Vye-let. I got wet." She scowled and pointed at her shoe. I smiled, then looked over at the triplets and their parents. "Not going well," I muttered. The others shook their heads in agreement. "I say we help them," Tyler said after a pause. I raised an eyebrow. "And what, die in a couple seconds? We won't have any effect on Asteria or Hades." "Percy Jackson did it," Kimber chimed in, "And Jason." "Yeah, but-" Ellie tugged on my sleeve. "We can do it, Vye-let. I help you."
    Then there was an explosion.
"MAIA!!!" The strangled cry resounded through the dense haze, no mistaking Zeke's voice. Terrified, I looked over at Kimber and Tyler. Kimber's face was buried in his chest, and he had his arms wrapped around her protectively. My eyes narrowed, and I looked back out at where the explosion had come from. It was too quiet. Then a brilliant gold beam pierced through the fog, dissolving the mist and clearing our vision. Asteria stood in the middle of the room, strangling Zeke. Maia lay motionless at her feet. Crystal sat hunched in a corner of the room, nursing a broken arm, sitting in a pool of her own blood. Morgan and Hades were nowhere to be seen.
Then Asteria dropped Zeke, and snapped her attention to where the light had come from. "You," she said softly, walking slowly toward the toddler who stood quietly at the other side of the room. "You have your powers already? Impressive. Faster than Maia's development, I dare say."
    "Tyler," I hissed, "Do something."

    Tyler's POV:
"Uhh, okay." I pointed at the ceiling, and it smashed to pieces. "Zephyr!" I yelled at him, "Way to almost kill the good guys too!" He laughed, then whirled around the room, tearing it up, throwing everything into utter chaos. Kimber looked up at me with huge, sparkling, terrified eyes. "What happening?!?" "It's Zephyr, the West Wind." "Isn't he the gentle one?" "Ha, don't say that near him. Yeah, he's the gentle one, but he doesn't LIKE being the gentle one, and that's why he loves the little- errands I occasionally have for him." I kissed her cheek, then pulled away from her and jumped into the air, a sweet taste lingering on my mouth. "Help Maia, Kimber. Vi, find Ellie! We need her!" I yelled over the noise before I zoomed away. Now I could actually use my powers. Not just for stupid windsurfing to show off for Aphrodite girls, but in actual battle. I drew my sword and zoomed toward Asteria. "HEY YOU!" I kicked her in the back of the head, wondering if she would even feel it, and flew back. She turned around. "YEAH, I"M TALKIN TO YOU, PUNK!"
I had to tumble about fifty feet to avoid the blast of fire she shot at me. Zephyr quickly blew it out, then zoomed through Asteria and blew her over.

    Zeke's POV:
I landed on my back when Asteria dropped me, smacking my head on the floor, and I immdiately dragged myself over to Maia, ignoring the blurry vision. "Maia," I whispered, reaching her side and clutching her hand, "Maia, wake up." She didn't respond. I gathered her in my arms and kissed her tenderly, closing my eyes. I opened them and looked at her face. Her smooth pale skin was bruised and scraped, and her shoulder twisted at an odd angle. I relocated it and healed what I could.
Then the ceiling blasted open. I grabbed Maia and tumbled out of the way of a giant piece of ceiling that landed right where we had been. I dove under a ledge in the wall right as a wind blasted past us. Hm, maybe that kid who had rescued Crystal. I peered out to see the same guy fighting Asteria, floating in the air. The stuck-up, cocky, ignorant IDIOT.

    *earlier*Morgan's POV:
I tumbled into the shadow world as my father and I made contact. I felt his hands around my throat, but I wrenched myself away and stabbed him in the stomach. A electric buzz shocked me out of my wits, but I kept wrestling him. I grabbed for what was on his head, yanked at it, and there was a huge explosion that knocked me unconscious.

    Kimber's POV:
I pointed at the wall, and an ivy vine grew out of it. I grabbed it and swung down to the floor below. Okay, Zeke had Maia, he could protect her better than me. I looked up at Tyler. His shirt was tattered, and his shoulder was bleeding, but as I watched, the winds sealed his wounds. He gripped his sword in one hand, the wind ruffling his golden hair. He really was hot, I thought to myself briefly. Then I was swooped up into the air. "So this is the girl, huh?" a jocky, jokster-sort of voice said above me. "Who are you?" I asked. "Name's Zephyr, the west wind. Tyler's told me about you. He didn't tell me you were this gorgeous. Anyway, ya looked like you were planning to help him, so I thought I'd give ya a hand." I smiled, blushing slightly. "What d'you have in mind? I don't really know-" "How to fight a titaness?" Neither do I. Shall we experiment?" I swallowed nervously. "Like what?" "Point at her feet. Make the ground sink under her." I did as he said, and Asteria stumbled as the ground under her turned to quicksand. At the same time, Tyler attacked her, at the same time Crystal gathered her remaining strength, leapt up, and stabbed Asteria in the back.

    Crystal's POV:
A violent electric shock jolted through me, and I was blasted across the room. Through my hazy vision I saw Asteria, bleeding, seize Tyler and smash him against the ground. I closed my eyes, my head throbbing viciously, hearing the sounds of screaming and utter chaos around me. My nerves were badly damaged from the jolt, and I found it hard to move. Then I heard a huge crash, and I opened my eyes to see a foggy picture of Asteria crashing to the ground. Morgan suddenly fell out of nowhere next to me, unconscious.
In her hand was the Helm of Darkness.
    O.O
I picked it up slowly and put it on my head, and my world flashed and focused. My vision was shockingly sharp, and everything was a different color, like night vision or something. I crept over to Morgan and healed her just as Hades appeared. "Where is it," he hissed. He raised his sword to stab her. But I stabbed him first. I felt a tingly sensation, and had a feeling that I would've received another violent shock if I didn't have the Helm. His eyes widened in shock and he disappeared in a puff of smoke, probably returning to his palace to complain to Persephone and recover for a few years. I didn't hesitate and ran toward the others where Mom was. She had healed herself and was getting to her feet. Then she turned around, seeming to sense me. She blasted a wall of fire in my direction, and I had a feeling she could see my shadow. As she advanced toward me, Zeke and Maia leapt into the air and stabbed her. She screeched and disappeared, as the vicious shockwave sent Zeke and Maia flying. They crashed into the wall and crumpled to the ground. I pulled off the Helm and ran over to them.

    Violet's POV:
It was way too quiet. I peeked out from my hiding place behind a chunk of ceiling and looked around. The wind had died down. The fighting had stopped. Zeke lay on the floor unconscious; Maia had landed on top of him. Ellie was nowhere to be seen. Kimber, way up high, was clinging to ivy vines she had managed to grow out of the ceiling. Crystal stood at the center of the room, sword in one hand, a helmet in the other, surveying the wreckage of the room. Hades and Asteria were gone. "Crystal?" I said hoarsely, my voice barely there. She turned toward me. "Violet." Her voice sounded like it was coming from a ghost world a few miles away. Echoing and distant. "Crystal what's wrong?" She gestured with her sword at the scene around her. "The price we paid. So much, yet Asteria will just keep coming back." "You got Maia back." "But lost Ellie and Tyler." "Wait, Tyler??" It was now that I noticed his crumpled bloody form lying in a corner. Waitwaitwait nonono, my arch enemy couldn't DIE. I was the only one allowed to kill him, not some titaness. Wait... Tyler... Then my feet were running, running fast, but Kimber got there before me, shooting down an ivy vine and landing beside him. "Tyler?" The word barely escaped my throat, sounding strangled. All I could do was stand there, dumbfounded, as Kimber dropped to her knees beside him, tears running down her cheeks. Her hands found multiple wounds in his chest, his stomach, his head, his spine, blood on her fingers whenever she touched him. She listened for a heartbeat in his chest. "He's still alive," I heard her say weakly. "Not for long," came Crystal's distant voice, "Only for a few minutes." "Tyler?" Kimber's shoulders started shaking as she tried in vain to heal him with herbs. "Kimber." If I had thought Crystal's, Kimber's, and my voices had been weak, Tyler's was nothingness. Now I could barely watch, salty tears filling my eyes. As Tyler struggled to prop himself up on one elbow and started coughing up blood, Kimber clutched his cold hand between hers and wiped the blood away with a cloth. "Kim-ber-" He reached up to her neck and pulled her head down, kissing her tenderly. I felt no impulse to slap him now. When he fell away from the kiss, his head turned away, his face pale and blood leaking from the corner of his mouth, I screeched, "CRYSTAL! MORGAN! ZEKE! DO SOMETHING!" Kimber was clutching fistfuls of his shirt, burying her face in his chest and weeping. Morgan and Zeke were unconscious. And there was something wrong with Crystal. She just sort of looked at me, as if unsure of who I was and what I was talking about.
