Even if they proved it, there would be very little change worldwide. Belief is a very powerful thing; if strong enough, and especially when strengthened by the added benefits of worldwide numbers and centuries of fortification, it would probably survive even when it's been proved false.
If the beings known as God and Jesus were proven false, the leaders religions that believe in those entities would simply tell their followers not to believe the blasphemy and lies. It might even start a serious battle of religion vs. science, with religious fanatics attacking various academies of science and former believers attacking religious institutions. But the faiths themselves will still hold strong, because people with something to believe in, for some reason, are incredibly stubborn.
It's just human nature.
