Specifically two things - my friends and Enlighten Education. First, my friends all came over on a saturday night and we roasted marshmallows and talked around the fire (just like in the movies!!) we were talking about absolutely everything, and somehow we started talking about what we didn't like about ourselves, and every single one of us had something negative to say about our bodies. And it was so sad to see these gorgeous and bright girls saying they hated parts of themselves, parts i never even noticed. I guess i realised that maybe since i've never judged them or seen them for the parts of them they're so upset about, maybe they feel the same about me... you know, maybe they love me for me!!! I certainly love them for them and not the size of their stomachs!! I hope everyone else can learn to feel better about themselves, because i swear that not one of your friends would think of you as any less than perfect.
Enlighten Education was basically this woman that came to our school and talked to us about everything girls need to know (but funnily enough, not eating disorders... though i guess she could have while i was doing an english competition), so safety and friendships and all, but also self-esteem. she called that part 'love the skin you're in' and she was amazing!!! she showed us pictures of what celebrities actually look like compared with their photoshopped model photos... but best of all, she told us about a celebrity (i can't remember which one) coming out and getting angry at a magazine for shaving off 1/3 of her body weight... she said she didn't want to be made out to be thinner because she likes eating cake!! great woman right there:)
this is a fairly long post, so i'll stop now. but PLEASE love who you are (i also guarantee everyone will think you're even more beautiful if you own yourself and show that you're proud of who you are... as opposed to being huddled in a corner with your arms across your waist to hide what nobody notices)
I love you all!
