I am reading The Other Wes Moore, a memoir reflecting on how environment made a huge impact in the lives of two men who bear the same name from the same area, but who grow up to have totally different outcomes.
Both started out with poverty-level single mothers, both enjoyed sports, both had siblings from other fathers, and both were tempted by the pull of street life. However, one breaks the poverty cycle and becomes a Rhodes Scholar-educated, Army Officer veteran and business executive, and the other Wes Moore kills a police officer and gets life in prison. I am almost finished but I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy non-fiction, memoirs or books dealing with social issues.
Also just started Naked In Death (how's that for a change of pace?) and will start this week Triptych for my Book of the Month in Mystery and Suspense.
