The main admin over on Play Book Tag has had some concerns lately over a lack of technical maintenance on Shelfari, to the point of wondering if they are possible considering allowing the site to go defunct. As such, and as someone who cares about the community that she has helped to build here, she has decided to launch a letter campaign to Amazon to try to get some of our concerns addressed. Her idea is to formulate particular issues which users all agree need to be addressed and then ask users to all email a given individual regarding those concerns. Right now she is asking the following:
What are the three biggest problems with existing features?
What are the three new features we think would be MOST useful to have implemented?
If you will share your responses with me, I will forward them to her, and she will tally them up.
The PBT admin, Againstthetide, feels that we need to let Amazon know that this is a community that is important to us and one that influences our purchasing decisions. Amazon needs to understand the role that search engines and tags and reviews play in our choices of the books that we ultimately buy from their site. As you answer the above questions, please keep those factors in mind, in addition to the simple enjoyment that I know we all derive from the community that we find here together. Amazon is, after all, a business, and they are going to make their decisions from that frame of mind.
If you are an admin in another group, and want to share this concern with those group members, please do so. You can collect the info and get back to me and I will then forward to the administrator who is spearheading this effort.
