I Am Not A Book Snob Book Club

"Literature is a luxury; fiction is a necessity." ~ G.K. Chesterton

This is the creed of the I Am Not A Book Snobbian. This group is about the celebration of ALL reading; whether it is a classic of the times grounded in brilliantly descriptive writing OR a light, fun book that is read for a quick story.

This is a group in which...more »

I only post books that I've read to Shelfari. I don't even use the "plan to read" shelf.

I use mine. I currently have two non-fiction - one about world war II, one about Christian living, and one fiction - and old series book.

I use my currently reading and plan to read all the time. On my plan to read shelf is 2 non-fiction (of course) I am with Fatty and The Sisters. My plan to read shelf is for books that I am to lazy to put on my TBR list or ones that are on hold at the library. I am currently reading Juliet romance/mystery fiction.

Amazon started adding purchases to my 'reading now' shelf. I'm pretty sure I didn't ask them to do it and it's a bit random. Like not everything I buy goes on and stuff I have never heard of pops up from time to time.

I usually add books when I 've finished reading them. I almost never use the 'plan to read' because of my list aversion. I think I have a couple on my wish list, these tend to be old or out of print, or books I used to own and lent out to people and never got back...

I use my currently reading shelf as well.
Right now I have three books on it:
Black Friday by Alex Kava (thriller), which I am a third of the way in. The chapters in this book are so short that I cannot seem to get immersed in the story.
The Darkest Passionby Gena Showalter (PNR) which I had just started when had to do a buddy read for another group.
Forged in Fire by Trish McCallan (Romantic Suspense) - my buddy read.

I use all my shelfari shelves. The To Be Read shelf are books, well, that I want to read...I also own them all. I use my wish list little gift wrapped box for books I want to read but don't own. My Reading shelf I use all that time (and keep adding books without really taking any off LOL)

Well, that explains why your shelf stands at over 6400! And those are just what you own! The mind boggles lol.You are definitely the one whose shelf I have most in common with, over 880 books.I think I will have a little browse through your shelfand try to make that 900 as soon as possible.Or I would if I wasnt completely inundated with group challenges at the moment.I have over 100 books to read this year already on the list, from 12x12,Birth of a Reader, and my own little library pile that needs to be read-about 40 books, plus almost another hundred hidden away on my public library online catalogue. What the eye doent see,the heart doesnt have a heart attack over! ;0)

Yes,more and mor blurring.especially bad is my night vision. If I look at the moon,up on the one o'clock position there is a huge halo sort of shape, with vague ghostly little moons shimmering round the circle.Car headlights, traffic lights, street lights are simlar.Cant read in artificial light, but now with these light summer mornings at least I can do a little reading in the morning.I read about 30 minutes then rest my eyes for about 20 minutes, then the focusing problems are not so bad,Have the computer zoomed up,so no problems apart from blurring now and then.Have an appointment friday 18th to har whats going on.

Good Luck at the doctors Dusty - I'm sure they'll be able to fix you up.

If you need natural light to read, maybe the hospital can give you one of those boxes that provide 'natural' light for reading. My Nana's neighbour had eye problems and the hospital were amazing. I think her lightbox was funded through Age UK - she didn't have to pay for it and got provided with a sponsored e-reader as well, so she could adjust the text size and backlight etc. I don't think it's a Kindle but she could get all kinds of free books to download also.

You can buy "natural" light lamps. I don't know if that would work for you. Good luck at the doctor's. One of my biggest fears is losing my sight. What would I do if I couldn't read?

I use my shelves the like you, Christina. My TBR is books I have in my possession that I plan to read. I try to keep up with my "Currently Reading". I somehow missed the wishlists. I'll have to find them.

I use all my shelves as well. The I'm reading shelf is for books that I have in my possession and plan to read.
The plan to read is sort of a shopping list for my next visit to B & N or Amazon.
Wish list is for books that have piqued my interest and would like to someday read and also includes future releases from my favorite authors.

Hi, I'm Whitney and I am a track-aholic! I use everything but the Wish List, cause I forget about it and just stick everything on Plan to Read.

Lol! Track-aholic! Thats a great term,I have turned into one of those, because I am tracking what I read on at least four sites, plus of course posting a monthly ''What are you reading in ...'' list in all my groups.Participating in all those challenges is the culprit! :)

I thought that was what it stood for, but wanted to make sure so I didn't make an idiot of myself (I need no help doing that!). Missy is beautiful!! She looks in better shape than the dogs you find in our SPCA's. Do you work/volunteer at the RSPCA?

I agree Missy is absolutely stunning! I so wish I didn't have such terrible allergies. My home would be open to rescues for sure!

The only thing that keeps me from rescuing more is the size of my house/yard. I have three wonderful fur-angels now, two of whom are rescues. It is also the reason I don't think I could ever work at animal control or the SPCA. I'd want to take them all home.

I use all the basic shelves, Plan to read is everything regardless of series order (I didn't take the time to organize it by next in series or first in series like I did on goodreads) and I keep adding and deleting books from it almost every month. Currently Reading is everything which has been started in the current year and also includes the latest book I plan to read after finishing my current title which gets updated every three days or so. Wishlist is all books I deam good enough to buy (ie five star and or favorite and read multiple times or which I plan to read multiple times if I have a copy~). my biggest shelf is Library followed by Fantasy and Dystopia.

on my currently reading shelf is three fantasy (two of which I have put aside) and one science fiction
