    THE RANDOMNESS MACHINE

There you are, standing between a raging bull and a deep canyon. Do you chose the bull or to jump into the canyon?

    Chapter 1 –

“…and with that being said, this machine could be dangerous. It will teleport you to any time, any place, and to any dimension.” Dr. Yellow said wrapping up his meeting “Any questions?”, “Is it possible for us to see this brilliant machine of yours?” asked a curious professor. “It is very sad for me to say this, but it has been stolen two days ago from the City Museum.” Sighed Dr. Yellow, "only those who are curious will be able to find it."… somewhere on the other side of the world, in an unknown time, unknown place, and unknown dimension, a darkness stirred.

    Chapter 2 –

Somewhere in the city, a boy was having a tantrum… “WHY CAN’T I GO CAMPOUT?” he hollered “ALL I DID WAS GET INTO THE HOUSE WITH MUD ON MY CLOTHES!” He was shouting all afternoon, he had been outside yesterday and came in with mud all over him. Now, his father wasn’t letting him go on the camping trip that they go on each spring break. His mother was on his side though, and soon enough his father gave in. They got into the car and buckled up. The boy looked out from the window. The engine of the car gave a sudden jolt and started moving, he stared out of the window as his house disappeared in the distance. He was ready for a break full of fun, adventure, and new friends.

When they pulled up on the Appalachian Mountains, the rode got rackety, bumpy, and the most unpleasant thing that you have ever witnessed. The boy’s name was Sam and he liked the bumpiness of the road, he imagined it as the first sign of adventure. With every turn, he imagined what new picture they would see, the foul breath of a bear rising into the damp air or another viewing spot to take pictures from. His mother on the other hand, did not like the feeling. Mrs. Wensil was the opposite of adventurous, she was reading a book in the front seat and jumping at every bump and turn of the road.

    Chapter 3 –

When they drove into the camp, Sam jumped out of the car. Before his parents could object, he was playing with his old friends.

“Why don’t we go on a treasure hunt?” asked one of Sam’s friends.

“First, I have to help my parents unpack” Sam answered “Thanks for asking Edmund.”

“Oh!” exclaimed Edward “Me and Rhonda need to help our parents too!”

When Sam built the tent, collected wood for fire, and started the fire, his dad let him go play. “Come back before noon!” he told Sam. Sam, Edmund, and Rhonda took shovels and started hiking up the trail. They didn’t get far until a rustling in the bushes on the side of the trail stopped them. A huge black bear stepped out of the bushes. The kids took one look at him, dropped their shovels, and ran. When they couldn’t run any further, they stopped. The bear must have not been that fast, they soon figured that the trail was far behind and that they did not bring and breadcrumbs with them except for their shovels. They hid behind a tree and took a rest. Sam immediately started looking for food, he searched for a river, he searched the trees, but there was no food to be found. He decided to search the bushes, but instead of finding food… he found a machine. It was a little black box with the words on it, ‘Property of Dr. Yellow, Distributed by Time and Space Inc.’

    “What’s that?” asked Rhonda.

“Probably just somebody’s home theater system.” said Sam, examining the sides of the box.

Suddenly, a big purple ray shot out of the projector. It formed a purple circle under the path they were on. They were sucked into the purple hole…

    Chapter 4 –

When they gained consciousness, they noticed where they were. They were in a swamp that stretched miles and miles in every direction.

“How did we get here?” asked Edmund.

“It must have had something to do with that box.” answered Sam.

“Then we should go get it!” said Rhonda “Where is it?”

The box was nowhere to be seen. I think we should search for it! They set of down the tricky pathway though the swamp. Edmund was the one who found it. It was sinking into the swamp, he jumped after it and he got stuck.

“Quick!” cried Rhonda “What should we do?”

“Make him grab hold of a stick!” Sam shouted.

Suddenly, there was a blinding flash from inside the swamp; Edmund must have gotten hold of the box. There was a sound as if water was going down the drain, and he was gone.

“WhAt aRe We gOinG tO do?” sobbed Rhonda.

“We should go get something to eat.” Said Sam hopefully, starring at the mountainous horizon.

    Chapter 3 –

When they gained consciousness, they noticed where they were. They were in a swamp that stretched miles and miles in every direction. The weather was gray and stormy. ‘Nimbostratus’, according to Sam.

“How did we get here?” asked Edmund.

“It must have had something to do with that box.” answered Sam.

“Then we should go get it!” said Rhonda “Where is it?”

    Chapter 4 –

Edmund was lying on the ground faster than he could catch himself. He was all dirty due to the fact that he had just jumped head first into the swamp. He got up and stared at his surroundings. Instead of being teleported back home, he was on the moon. But how was he breathing? He picked up the box hoping to go to a different place but it wouldn’t budge. No purple ray shot out, he was still standing on the moon, muddy, and lonely…

Edmund was walking around the moon for an hour already. He was thirsty and couldn’t breathe anymore. He had to get out of there and save Sam and Rhonda. Suddenly, a shuttle landed on the moon. Out came an astronaut and got inside a truck, loaded equipment out, and started driving it in Edmund’s direction. When the astronaut got to him, he gave him a suit and took him to the shuttle. There, Sam washed the box and waved goodbye to the astronauts as he stepped into the purple hole. He hadn’t realized that he was the first person on the moon, it was July 20, 1969…

    Chapter 5 –

This time, Edmund was prepared. He landed straight on his feet and looked around to see where he was. The weather was sunny. He was standing in front of a deep canyon, a herd of bulls grazing in front of him, and a river stretching as far as the eye could see. He got close enough to the river, to be able to stretch out his hand and sip a bit of water. When he lifted his head, he was face to face with a bull. The bull’s face was wet with water. It seemed as if Edmund had distracted it from drinking. The bull was posed to charge. Edmund ran back to the machine. The bull started running, the portal formed. The bull was right next to the portal, Edmund jumped into the portal.

Edmund landed on his elbows on hard rock, he looked up. The bull came was their, pouring with rage.

    “Oh No” Edmund muttered.

Only now did he realize where he was. He was in one of his pictures in his science book. A volcano was erupting, swamplands were stretching ahead. This was the home of the dinosaurs… The bull clawed the ground with his hooves and charged. Edmund easily dodged him and the bull fell of the cliff, which was behind him. Edmund watched as the animal’s carcass was falling. A Pterodactyl swooped out from below, caught the bull, and returned to it’s nest.

That swamp looked familiar, thought Edmund… he didn’t have time to call out Sam and Rhonda’s names because right away he was greeted by the people who he was searching for.

“Edmund!” yelled Rhonda and Sam at the same time and ran down to their friend to hug him.

“We thought we lost you.” said Rhonda “Let’s go home.”

“Where?” asked Edmund “I don’t have a home.”

“Have you gone mad?” asked Sam “You’ve forgotten about your home?”

“…and with that being said, this machine could be dangerous. It will teleport you to any time, any place, and to any dimension. It will also slowly take you’re memories away from you, starting from the day you were born.” Dr. Yellow continued “to prevent leakage of you’re memories, I have made another machine that coexists with this one and can collect the memories.” Dr. Yellow said wrapping up his meeting “Any questions?”, He was giving a speech about a really interesting machine that would teleport you to a different setting each time you use it. The military officer was about to ask him if it could be used in war but a very curious professor interrupted him “Is it possible for us to see this brilliant machine of yours?”. “It is very sad for me to say this, but it has been stolen two days ago from the City Museum.” Sighed Dr. Yellow, "only those who are curious will be able to find it."… somewhere on the other side of the world, in an unknown time, unknown place, and unknown dimension, a darkness stirred.

…After that unpleasant speech they decided that it is the machine’s fault that Edmund forgot these things. They decide not to use it and to find another way to get home. They wandered around the ancient world and decided that they couldn’t do anything without the machine. They step into the portal once again…

Yellow, "only those who are curious will be able to find it…” Somewhere on the other side of the world, in an unknown time, unknown place, and unknown dimension, a darkness stirred.

    Chapter 1 –

“Oh!” exclaimed Edmund “Me and Rhonda need to help our parents too!”

    Chapter 2 –

When they gained consciousness, they noticed where they were. They were in a swamp that stretched miles and miles in every direction. The weather was gray and stormy. ‘Nimbostratus’, according to Sam.

“How did we get here?” asked Edmund.

“It must have had something to do with that box.” answered Sam.

“Then we should go get it!” said Rhonda “Where is it?”

The box was nowhere to be seen. They decided to start searching for it. They set off down the tricky pathway through the swamp. Edmund was the one who found it. It was sinking into the swamp, he jumped after it and he got stuck.

“Quick!” cried Rhonda “What should we do?”

“Make him grab hold of a stick!” Sam shouted, pointing at a dry piece of wood lying on the ground.

Suddenly, there was a blinding flash from inside the swamp; Edmund must have gotten hold of the box. There was a sound as if water was going down the drain, and he was gone.

“WhAt aRe We gOinG tO do?” sobbed Rhonda “MY pOor brOthEr…”

“We should go get something to eat.” Said Sam hopefully, starring at the mountainous horizon. And they set of to the mountains that they could see in the distance…

    Chapter 3 –

    Chapter 4 –

A Pterodactyl swooped out from below and lunged at the ball, swiftly turning around and taking its victim back to it’s nest.

…After that unpleasant speech they decided that it is the machine’s fault that Edmund forgot these things. They decide not to use it and to find another way to get home. They wandered around the ancient world and decided that they couldn’t do anything without the machine. They step into the portal once again…

    Chapter 5 –

Meanwhile, an alien in an other dimension was preparing for an assault on the universe. It was in an unknown galaxy, on and unknown time, and a totally random dimension. “Master” croaked a humanoid alien “we have detected the location of the object, it is over fifty billion years ago, twenty light years away.” “Good work” said the tall alien that was towering over him, his expression turned to wicked grin and he returned back to his desk. The alien exited the huge chamber and entered a room filled with machines and desks. Pausing to check on his desk, he ran back to the tall alien “Lord Quimby” he stutters “It changed course, they are now on our planet!” “Then we must prepare immediately!” says Lord Quimby staring into the distance.
