Paging All Bookworms! Reading Challenge

This group is for enthusiastic people seeking a different type of reading challenge. Rather than tallying how many books you read, keep track of what you read and how many pages are in each book you finish. It's easy-start a thread with your name in the title (and make sure to bookmark that thread for later) and then as you finish a book, jot...more »

April Reading Challenge - Paging All Bookworms Read-a-thon

    Save Changes Cancel
This is going to be a bit different - Instead of a month-long challenge, we will be doing a read-a-thon which will run from 12 AM (whatever your own time zone is) April 23rd through 12 AM April 30th.

Basically, you will read as much as you'd like for as long as you'd like during the week and "check in" at the beginning and end (and in between, if you'd like) of the read-a-thon.

There will be some mini-challenges and prizes involved, and I do have some sponsors lined up already. I will be posting a sign-up link on my blog this Thursday.

One of the purposes of this read-a-thon (besides having fun reading "together" with others) is to point more people towards our group here on Shelfari.

Mark your calendars and I will edit the title of this post when updated with new information.

That does sound fun--doesn't the time frame also include World Reading Day??

Yes, it does. I'm also participating in World Book Night that week - giving out copies of "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" to the men in transitional housing at the Volunteers of America center near my home.

I'm giving away copies of "The Things They Carried" to non-traditional readers at my local high school.

I'm giving away Peace Like a River by Leif Enger .... probably going to a local homeless shelter and/or the VA's domiciliary (housing for vets with addiction issues).

The read-a-thon has been postponed for now. We apologize for the late notification.

Stay tuned for the upcoming announcement of the May Mini-challenge later this week.

I checked in to see about this - I started my read-a-thon last night as I stayed up until 3:30 am reading THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by John Green!

Will be looking for an update on this - oh and you administrator guys are GREAT! This is my favorite group!
