    April 2012 Mini-Challenge: Poll Position

    Sorry this is so late. Due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, our original scheduled April mini-challenge has had to be deferred. So here I am with something truly completely different. Here is how April's mini-challenge will work...Step One: Take the poll or quiz below:

    Ignore the advertisements, they're irrelevant. Step Two: Post the primary result in this thread. For instance I got this result:

    "For 37 % you are: You are...A WOLF! Your utmost priority is leadership and kindness. You make friends easily and steadily, learn quickly, and care about others, hurting as much as they do when they're having a hard time."

    Step Three: Read a book that has something to do with the animal totem you got as a result. There are lots of different way to do this-for instance I could read a book with the word wolf in the title, or a book written by someone named wolf, or I could read a book about wolves (fiction or non-fiction.) As always be clever-it's more fun. And speaking of fun, that is what this challenge is supposed to be-so don't sweat it if you get a result you don't like you can always fall back to a secondary result or take the test over. But it will be more fun to throw your fate to the winds I think.

    Strange test, I didn't know what to answer on most of the questions; and the politics question had basically four options, conservative, apolitical, apolitical and conservative, or conservative. Anyway, I came out a wolf -- actually, I just read a book on wolves and other canids for the dog challenge this month, so I'm not sure whether I'll read another one or not. (Would Wolfe or Woolf count?)

      Sure they count. And I am not a big fan of this quiz either the one I had decided to use was bookmarked and when my old computer went belly up I lost that bookmark. I thought I had more time to locate the "good" poll but it turns out I didn't. C'est la vie.

      I was considering Thomas Wolfe, Tom Wolfe, or Virginia Woolf -- all interesting authors I haven't read enough of. I finally decided to read Thomas -- Look Homeward, Angel was one of my favorites in High School but I've never gone back to read anything else. I'm going to re-read that, and then his next one, Of Time and the River. I wonder if I'll still like his writing being forty years older, though.

      It is interesting to see what time does to our brains, isn't it? Stuff I've had very fond memories of has seemed less than sterling when I've tried to reread it 20+ years later.

    We seem to have a whole pack of wolves here! I'm proud to be a member of this wolf pack, but deep down, I would have rather been a horse, my favorite animal of all. LOL!

    Well, I barely had a majority percentage. Almost four percentages were equal. It did tell me that I am 32% an EAGLE: "You're serious, concentrated, calculating, and judging. You are a natural born leader, and can be compassionate towards close friends. You may come off rather bossy to some." Actually that does describe me quite a bit. :) Don't know what to read...

      I'm looking into a couple of mysteries for this: Dying in Deer Country by Russ Heitz, currently cheap for Kindle or one of the Howard Moon Deer mysteries by Robert Westbrook.

    Why, oh, WHY don't I "save" before hitting "send"? Will I never learn? It just infuriates me to write a post, renew the page and see it printed, and then return later to find it gone.

    Anyway, what I was going to say:

    I went to the library yesterday and brought home a stack of WOLF books for the upcoming challenge.

    √DANCES WITH WOLVES by Michael Blake (Ahhh! My favorite movie of all-time!)
    √SISTER WOLF by Ann Arensberg (very good dark romance set in 1950s Massachusetts)
    √YOUNG WOLF by Jack London (his early adventure stories)
    √WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES by Clarissa Pinkola Estes (I've always wanted to read this)
    √WILD DOGS: Wolves, Coyotes & Foxes of North America by Erwin A. Bauer (Filled with beautiful wildlife photography & lots of information.)
    √ONCE A WOLF by Stephen R. Swinburne (History of wolf persecution, near-extinction, and recovery projects. Very good.)
    √A WOLF AT THE TABLE by Augusten Burroughs
    √LA TOUR DREAMS OF THE WOLF GIRL by David Huddle

    It looks like April will be a Howlin' Good Month for me!

      I think just 4 - eagle, deer, wolf and bear. But I could be wrong.

      I remember the other test NH was talking about. I took it last year and it was better. But I still ended up scoring as a wolf.

    Maybe this is why I teach art! A couple weeks ago it said I was a 37% wolf. I must just be in a different mood today, I guess. And no, I won't be reading a deer book of any type. I hate books about animals, as they always get abused and/or killed.

    Since I only returned to Shelfari with 1 day left in the month I probably won't get a book in. However, I took the test for kicks and giggles.
