I went to Borders on Saturday, and the place was ransacked! The line was out the door (Meyerland Mall in Houston, TX). They have a big magazine section, which were 40% off, and my favorites were gone (Martha Stewart Living, Flea Market Style, Mother Earth News). I managed to find some children's books for my grand-kids, some nice stationary, blank journals, and greetings cards for 40% off. All of the cute colorful writing pens and pencils were gone. One of my grand-daughters collect hand-puppets, which I get at Borders with a 30%-off coupon - that rack was totally bare. Books were only 10% off, so I will wait awhile longer and hope I can snag deals. I noticed many people purchased music CD - they must have had a decent discount. The coffee shop that was situated just inside the front door was an empty box - no chairs, no bar, no appliances, nothing. I may go to Borders on Mondays and Tuesdays when the doors first open to try and dodge the crowds.
