SF Challenge #1 is designed to be a great introduction to the many and varied types of novels under the science fiction umbrella.
All of the challenges, however, share a couple features: you will have one year from your personal start date to complete them, and they will likely force you out of your reading comfort zone.
Everyone is encouraged to follow each other's progress and comment in other peoples' threads (unless you ask that people not comment, which you are free to do) -- if nothing else, reading other peoples' threads may give you ideas for what books you can use to fill out your own categories! And while threads may occasionally be reorganized or condensed to keep the group navigable, there will always be places to ask questions about the challenge or provide suggestions for books that you love and think everyone should read.
