Ok, Mockingjay is out today, and I've read it. All I can say is... Wow. Suzanne Collins does not disappoint. From beginning to end, this is a great series. I was rooting for the other guy to get the girl, but given how the characters developed, I wasn't too sorry that things turned out the way they did. I think I would have felt a little bad for whichever one lost out.

The words that most came to my mind to describe this book are "unflinching" and "uncompromising." Given the series's history, you knew that there would be a pretty good body count, but the last straw that finally broke Katniss - that one I hadn't seen coming. It made me almost take a look back and say - from the beginning, what was it all for? But in the end, Katniss did her best to leave a better world than the one she found, so it has to be worth something in the larger scheme of things. And Katniss' world was never pretty or easy - but very human.

The last line of the book - I can't think of a better way to end the series than the final paragraph and that short, powerful last line.

    Five stars, all the way!

Joy, you summed it up well.

I knew Collins was going to go deep with this one, but I didn't know she'd go that deep. I was beyond impressed! It's definitely one of my WOW books. Just when you think Collins going to wrap it up the easy way, she throws a curve ball and shatters what you thought to be true. I laughed, I cried (bawled, is more like it), and I can't wait to relive it all again.

Wow. Nothing could have prepared me for that. While reading you think you know how the book is going to end, but no. None of what I thought would happen did happen. Nothing I could have even *imagined* to happen happened.

Collins held nothing back. Not the gritty, dirty parts that you shy away from. It was so raw and unforgiving. It teaches you that war doesn't spare life or sanity. I don't think I've ever felt so emotionally drained after reading a book.

I learned my lesson: Don't ever try to predict what is going to happen in a Suzanne Collins book.
I probably only predicted one thing correctly while reading Mockingjay, and I only made that prediction two pages before it happened. I would say "expect the unexpected" but even that won't prepare you for all the twists, turns, round-abouts, tunnels, cliffs, and flips that this book takes you through.
What an AMAZING book, and it ended so perfectly. It wraps up the story but reminds you that Katniss will never be the same after everything she's been through. That was, by far, the best ending line I have ever read. Definitely a jaw-dropping book from beginning to end. I couldn't help but cry.

I cried and cried when I finished the book last night (at 1am)! I, like everyone else, did not expect the direction this book took. It gave me a ton of anxiety, which is testament to how connected to these characters I really felt.

The ending was hard for me to get through, but I understand why things happened the way they did. She did end up with the guy I was hoping for, but by the time that happened their relationship had changed so fundamentally that I didn't know what I wanted. Beautiful, painful, overwhelming - this book will stay with me for awhile. I am glad for it, thank you Suzanne Collins!

Mockingjay. This book really got to me. I don't know how many days I got depressed after reading it. I still feel a little empty when I think of it.

It may have been sad, but it's satisfying. It's a great read. I loved it. One of the best books I've ever read.
