The cover is a big influence for me. Of course, the hero should be gorgeous. But, that's not the only thing. I hate it when the cover models don't fit the description of the hero and heroine. That really bugs me! Like for instance, when they describe the man as having this mat of hair on his chest , and the model on the cover doesn't have a lick of hair. It's just annoying. To me, chest hair is a turn off anyway, and I try to ignore it when they describe the guy as having a lot of it. Yick!!

I do agree with the characters not matching with the cover. There have been some where it mentions that she is a raven haired beauty and i look at the cover and it has a blond or a redhead. That totally irks me! It is not like there is a shortage of models out there.

The cover of the book doesn't influence me to read the book, but it does catch my attention first.

How about getting some discussion going again?

Name some of the books where you have found that the cover model does not match the character description. I know there was an Amanda quick book that they mentioned the character was blond and it had a lady with black hair on the picture. I can't remember the name off the top of my head.

The cover matters a lot to me unless the author is one of my auto-buys. I don't remember reading any book where the character description did not match the model cover. I don't think I would be very happy about it. I would feel like I had been tricked.

I have only bought two books because of the cover 1 was DARK LOVER by JR Ward and the 2nd was WARPRIZE by Elizabeth Vaughn. But I still love the great covers when I get them.

The cover or a familiar author's name are what makes me pick up a book at the store and look through it. If it has a great cover, I'm gonna page through the book at the store to see if it's interesting.

I say unless someone recommends me a book, I tend to buy based on the look of the cover, one particular book that I read because of the cover was Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush and also Fallen by Lauren Kate

I hate to say but YES!!!! I am always attracted to a gorgeous cover or a gorgeous guy on the cover LOL! It should also give me a impression of what the book is about and convince me to read more or even want to read it. Of course that's notto guarantee I will enjoy the book but it gets my interest none the less.
