Wow, that's a fantastic library! I would love to browse through those books, sitting in that chair sipping a good cup of tea and cuddling with that lovely cat. Mr. Gaiman, you made yourself a reading-palace! I wonder how many books it contains...
When I get a place of my own, that's what my library will look like. I love how utterly COZY it looks....
I'm not sure what I envy more, his shelf space, his collection, or the fact that his basement must be entirely without dampness in order to house all those books. And it does look cozy, I agree! It's so neat to see that I have some of the same titles as he does.
My bookshelves overfloweth in every room. I need a jumbly library chock-full of random, classic, fantastic and learned books like Mr. Gaiman's. Someday when I grow up I WILL have a library of my own!
Inspirational, to say the least! Time to get my library in order and unpack those umpteen cardboard boxes full of books.
Oh Organization...I wish my bookshelves were so neat and orderly.
People tell me I've got too many books. I feel sooo much better now. I need that kind of space for my books!!! Beautiful...and a cat too, no less.
Do you think Neil Gaiman would mind if I just went and lived in there for a while? I'd look after his cat.
Hey Pat! Don't worry, you can never have TO much books! ^_^Then you have to share the room with me Emily! Shall I put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea. Maybe you want to bring the cookies!
I'm sure there's enough books in there for the both of us. I'll bring cakes. I make mean cakes ;)
Graveyard cakes? ^_^
Oh WOW. When I grow up...
So the plan is to just go through the pictures and catalog whatever you can make out?
He mentions lots of books that shaped his ideas as a youth in one of the collections of his introductinos, speeches, and American Gods blog. Sadly, I can't remember the nameof the book just now.
Yup...I'm moving into that library. Holy crow it's amazing! Too be surrounded by that many books all the time...heaven.
That is amazing! Love it! I want my home library to look like that too!! :)
How did shelfari get the picture? Was this something that Neil posted himself or did some one sneak in and take the picture? I am very curious about how the circumstances regarding the photo and who created this post. One day when I am rich I will have a library like this put for now, I am Bill-and-Hillary-Clintoning-It; books just piled all over the floor in giant stacks (it drives my wife crazy), but I love books and love collecting them. My collection is certainly not as pristine as Mr. Gaiman's due to the fact that most of mine come from either garage sales, library sales, and the local used bookstore or on rare occasions B&N or amazon.com. Nothing beats a book for 25 cents!
Speaking of great bookshelves - has anyone else seen this wonderful idea: http://www.sakurah.net/collections/cave.htm
I would love to have a room large enough to fit one of these in, as it is double-sided this is an issue, maybe I can build one of my own!
that's what my library will look like when it grows up.
