I totally love potions.
No, I seriously do. At my Muggle school, I loved to do chemistry, so I enjoyed it a lot.
I sat at the front, yet everyone stared at Laurie.
Professor Snape strolled about and halted. "Potions is unvariably a very expert art. It needs to be done with full presence of mind, concentration and wit." He smirked at the last word. "Today, we shall be starting a potion that is of the easiest kind - the Fingernail Lengthening potion. The materials are in the open cupboard, and the intructions on the board. Start now."
Excited, I perched my cauldron on its firestand. I hurrief to get the materials before anyone else.
oing back to my place, I gazed at the board and started.
First, I lit the fire undeer my cauldron. "Pour into your cauldron half a cup of albumen protein from egg whites." I took a large bottle, and poured the albumen into the cauldron. "Add to it two drops of rat spleen juice" I added it. The potion turned orange. "Mix to it powdered root of goat bone tree" I sniffed at a small evaporating dish and shovelled some spoonfuls into it. "Now add three chips of the culture-" I added it "-until the potion turns blue. Stir clockwise three times, simmering the fire"
I did it perfectly and the potion turned a colourless after three turns.
Professor Snape glanced into my cauldron and though he was looking for a flaw, h found none. He moved on.
I saw Hermione grinning at me - and by the looks of it, only the two of us had got it right.
