  Guide to Shelfari Academy

  WELCOME! This discussion will contain the school's rules and regulations. Everyone are expected to read and follow the school's rules. This will serve as your guide here in your stay at this school.

  For Newcomers, please go to the Registrar's Office to be sorted into a house. Once you are sorted, please present yourself to your housemates by going into your common room and to your dormitory. Also, please read the following rules and regulations, for they are necessary to be able to prolong your stay in this academy

  SORTING

  New Students are counted upon to answer certain questions for us to distinguish his/her house. Once they are sorted they cannot transfer to another house. Our decision will be final. Once they are sorted, they are expected to go to their common rooms and dormitories to present themselves.

  THE FIVE HOUSES

  The Five Houses are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water, based on the Five Chinese Elements, also known as Wu Xing. Once you are sorted into a house, this will become your new family here in Shelfari Academy. Treat all your housemates with respect.

  THE HEADMISTRESSES

  * There are five Shelfari Academy Headmistresses. They are irreplaceable, unless it is their will to do so.

  * The Headmistresses will be the admins of this group. They are also responsible for everyone, and the students' welfare is their top priority.

  * Each of the Headmistresses has a house to lead, and they will guide you in your stay here in the academy. Please inform them if you have questions and complaints.

  STUDENTS

  * Students are expected to turn in their assignments, tests, and quizzes on of before the due date given by the teacher.

  * It is a student's responsibility to encourage their housemates and roommates to do their tasks.

  * Lying, cheating, copying, and/or plagiarizing is not allowed. Students who have done this will receive a corresponding punishment according to their actions.

  * Students are not allowed to start new discussions, only the teachers and the headmistresses have the authority to do so.

  * Inactive students will be deleted every quarter. We will contact them, but if they fail to respond, we will have no choice to delete them from the students list.

  * Students should respect their teachers, classmates, and headmistresses. Foul language is not allowed in the discussions.

  * Students are allowed to have picnics and play at the school grounds, but only at their free time.

  * Students are privileged in using the school facilities, like the library, gym, laboratories, cafeteria, etc.

  * Most importantly, students are expected to do their best and enjoy their stay here in Shelfari Academy.

  TEACHERS

  * Teachers are expected to give a new lesson at least once a week. Pop Quizzes are allowed anytime. They should also prepare a test for their students every quarter.

  * Teachers are to report to the faculty room in their free time.

  * Teachers are also expected to keep a journal where they will write their experience in teaching. They will report this to the headmistresses once a month.

  * Teachers who are inactive will be replaced by a substitute. If they do not report immediately, they will be replaced permanently.

  * Teachers are expected to attend every Faculty Meeting that is help and if not that will be contacted to attend immediately.

    Because I am a teacher, when am I supposed to be sending the journal every month to the headmistress. Who's the headmistress that I am supposed to send to. And where is the faculty room and meeting?

  Students are counted upon to pass their homeworks and the answers to their quizzes on time. Points will be given to them, their house, and their dormitory for their work.

    Jenna- Trigonometry is officially NOT FUN. 

    Right now, we are having special summer classes and activities (see the SUMMER CHANGES discussion). Once regular classes begin in the fall, you simply have to post your name and house/element and you can start assignments in that class. For now, however, you can pop into any of the summer activities and classes to earn points for your element.

  THE BATTLE OF THE ELEMENTS

  The battle of the elements is the competition between the five houses. It will be won by the house with the highest points. Winning this will become everyone's goal. Your Head of House will help you achieve this goal. The winning house will have the privilege of passing their homeworks, projects, quizzes and tests anytime the following school year.

  AWARDS AND HONORS

  * Once a year, a person will be hailed as Valedictorian. That person has to have the highest points to qualify. He/she will become an admin and will become a Headmaster/mistress. He/she can also help lead his/her house.

  * There will be quiz bees for every subject every quarter. The winners will have a Final Competition at the end of the year. The winner will be the next teacher for that subject the following school year.

  * There will be all kinds of contests all year round. Please visit the Bulletin Board discussion frequently to be informed about this.
