Hi there. I just wanted to let you know I saw that you were from Holland. I have traveled there about 7 years ago and loved it. Just had to let you know that place was so beautiful. I collected some original wooden clogs and beautiful ceramic blue and white homes to remember that beautiful place. Gotta get back there soon. Take care and happy reading.

Yes I was saying that I was an admin for another reading group, hence the 'a' in front of reading group. Sorry should have been more clear, I would never try to steal your thunder Inberry! Reading down I see maybe that wasn't directed at me, sorry if it wasn't directed at me.

Inkberry. I joined this group....out of respect, and because you always support me. If there's a problem....because someone appreciates what someone does, and / or likes it....then, please,
LET ME KNOW! Now I AM the ONE CONFUSE: Because I really, truly, don't see the neccesity for your statement! I mean, it sounded abit, out of place:

If there's a problem, PLEASE....Let me know....Or, if my friends and I are not welcomed?

Can we just drop it please...I am very sorry if I offended anyone...over 55 brain blurp I guess.

It is great having everyone here discussing everything.

I hope everything is understood now....I apologize for the confusion on my part and the misunderstanding of what I meant. I appreciate replies so we cleared this up.

That's okay Inkberry, you can go start a shoutout discussion thread in my group if you'd like, I wouldn't mind.

I am a mother of four, a Spanish teacher, and recently, a double amputee, so I love shelfari because it allows me to have freedom that has pretty much been taken away from me until I get my prosthetics made.

Looking forward to great discussions about and suggestions for good reading fodder.

Hi! I joined after Jass sent out some invites. Thanks Jass! I recognize a few people here already! But for those who don't know, here's me...

I am in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and am a librarian at a small post-secondary library. Probably my biggest passion is my cats! I have two "boys", Angel (solid black, 10 years old - adopted when he was 8) and Io (tuxedo (black & white), 6 years old - adopted when he was just over 1 year). I used to also volunteer with the cats (and a little bit with bunnies) at my local Humane Society, and have just applied to volunteer at a different cat rescue society, now that I'm no longer at CHS.

My other current obsession right now is cruises! I've been on two so far and have a third one planned. My first two were to Alaska (stunning!! Absolutely stunning! And amazing wildlife!) and Scotland/Ireland last year - that was my first time outside North America, so it was pretty exciting and I got to see some gorgeous castles! My next cruise is in the fall - a Canada/New England cruise, so there's supposed to be some gorgeous colours! I've not really seen the East Coast of Canada (or the U.S.). I've been as far as Ontario, then skipped over to Newfoundland, so this should fill in some gaps.

I usually rotate between cruise pics or cat pics. :-)

Hi, my name is Deborah Indzhov. I am 49 and live in the state of Virginia, in the USA, but my husband is a native Bulgarian, so we have a home there, as well. Thanks for the invite, Jass! Hi, Inkberry! I think I've run across you in other groups. Like LibraryCin, I am the mother of two "feline" babies. A 26 lb. 5 yr. old male named Jacy, and 13 lb. 5 yr. old female named Jasmine. My husband and I treat them like our children. I am also the mother of a grown son and grandmother of two little grandsons, 20 months and 8 months old. I am totally addicted to reading and read many different genres, but am sort of on a paranormal/urban fantasy kick at the moment, mostly.

I don't know if you can see properly in this avi, but that is Jacy in the picture. He is laying on my husband's gym clothes that he pulled out of the gym bag on the right side of the picture. He is a "daddy's" boy and follows my husband around like a puppy. He is the size of a larger than small to medium sized dog. Both of our cats are short haired. Jacy is a tiger tabby grey and black, but has a lighter underbelly that as some yellow and light red in it. Jasmine is part persian, but is slate gray with some lighter grey and some white stripe markings that you can't see that well except in good light. She is light on the belly and has some white on her face. Jacy is a huge cat. I don't think I've ever seen a bigger domestic cat in my life. I can barely carry him, at all. I have to throw him across my shoulder mostly if I pick him up because he is longer than from my shoulder to my opposite hip. You can see better pictures of them on my MySpace page on their photo album. The address is http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=120289583&albumId=1270020

I just had to go look at all the pics (just call me the crazy cat lady!). They're beautiful! Jacy doesn't look that big, but I don't think I've ever seen a 26 pound cat before either. My boys are both around 14 pounds and I think that's plenty heavy enough! ;-)

Just wondering if you knew about this site: www.picato.net? People post cat pics and you can comment on them (and people can leave comments for you).

My previous cat was only about 8 pounds, but I thought she was pretty small. I think ideal (at least for mine) would be closer to 10-12 pounds, but they're not too far off and the vets aren't worried, either. I think the one of the main things is if you can still see a waist. For one of mine, I couldn't for a while, but it seems to have reappeared! :-)

Well, Butterscotch was a little tubbo, then I bought him the Weight Watchers (LOL) cat food and started measuring it. He slimmed right down and the kids like carrying him around. The other cat is a big fat thing, but she is very active and agile so we aren't that worried about it.

It's Purina One (which some cat people say is no good for your cat, but he seems to be doing good on it) Healthy Weight formula. The package tells you how much to feed for the weight of your cat, and whether you want the cat to maintain or lose.

He went from being an overweight kitty to the right weight kitty. :)

Oh, okay Bella! I thought you really meant "Weight Watchers". LOL! I was thinking, "Does Weight Watchers really do pet food? LOL! Duh! We do feed our overweight the Purina One, but we have two cats who eat together and one is skinny and one isn't. It makes it hard to control the overweight one without keeping the little one from eating enough.

Hello from ATL and BIG shout out to Jass for extending an invitation.

As you can see from my shelf, I read a wide variety of books. I go through phases where I'm stuck on one topic or genre and just read until I get tired of it. If I find a book in a series that I want, I HAVE HAVE HAVE to read them in order!

I typically read 2-3 books at a time. I recently got a Kindle as a gift because everyone knows how much I love to read. I still can't put my whole heart into because there is just something about holding the book in your hand and turning the pages that's a thrill for me. Call me old fashioned but I prefer books any day!

Looking forward to chatting books with you all!

I live near ATL, lol. Anyway I completely agree about the Kindle. I would love to have one but i fear I would miss the feel of pages between my fingers too much and the money spent on the Kindle would go to waste. It would be nice to have for vacation trips though, to have a lighter carry on for plane trips would be great. lol

Hi group! My name is Laura. We live just outside Tampa Florida. If feels like I am confessing and in a way .......I'm Laura and a book adict. I read every chance I get. Married with 3 children. The oldest son is grown and has made me a grandmother, then I have a 12 yr old daughter (she's a big reader also) and last but not least I have a 9 yr old son. I've usually leaned toward horror, and fantasy fiction for myself but last yr I found paranormal romance and have been deeply intrenched in that genre since. I also read what my children are reading so they have someone to talk to about the books. Its been tough lately because my 12 yr old reads so quickly I'm having trouble reading my choices and hers also. But I've got to admit that I like her books as well as I like my own.
So many books - so little time.
Thanks for the invite. I look forward to discussions here.

Hi - I've been reading all these wonderful replies and I've just joined the group. I had no idea it existed but found it by accident while looking at another Shelfarian's page and her groups. This seems to be right up my alley, so I'll introduce myself now that I'm part of you.

My name is Marie from Massachusetts, USA. I'm a mother (6 kids, all over 40), grandmother (10 grandkids, all over 20) and great-grandmother of 9, the oldest 17 and the youngest 3 months). Yes, we're a busy bunch! I've been a widow for 15 years after a 44-year marriage that ran the gamut from wonderful/happy to broke/easy. There was seldom a dull moment, are loads of wonderful memories and those six kids are marvelous to their mother, have grand memories of their dad. I live now with one of my sons and his wife, whom I love like one of my own. I'm such a lucky woman! Also, since Arthur died I've become a snowbird to Florida six months (October - May each year). Can't stand cold weather and LOVE the heat, so it's perfect for me.

Reading is, and always has been, one of my favorite pastimes - and I've read thousands of books over all these years. My favorite genre now is romance and I've come to the point where I can't stand reading about sicko minds, blood and gore, etc. Good mysteries are okay, just NOT the hurting/killing/anguish. Love history and Native American characters, to name just a couple; and I absolutely love Shelfari. I could go on forever (love gabbing), but you're probably tired of this by now!

I've been fortunate in that I've partially satisfied that "gypsy in my soul" and have been on maybe seven cruises, been to Hawaii twice and going a third time at the end of this month, been to Europe once and plan on a cruise to a few places next Sept. So "he's" been satisfied (that ole gypsy) quite often! Are you young enough that there is lots of going places in your future??

My name is Holly... I joined this group last week
I am going to be 28 in 3 days. I always have 1-2 books within my reach... I have books stacked up around my room because I've run out of shelf space. I also have a passion for music... I tend to have music on while reading & doing house work... well all the time actually. I am also working on writing an adult novel and a childrens book that may become a series....
I like the threads that are already posted & been responding on them... looking forward to more fun posts and reading great posts.
