Have you ever met an author in real life that you admire?

I'm starting this discussion because just last week, here in Bangalore I got a chance to meet Jeffrey Archer while he was on tour promoting his latest book Paths Of Glory. Got his autograph on the book too.
I have grown up reading his books and it felt nice getting to see him face to face. He spoke in a warm, friendly manner. Funny too at times.. He spoke about our country's politics, quipped about Cricket, and said a lot about how he came across the ideas to write his first books..

So, have any of you had such opportunities too? Met or spoke to any of the famous authors? Like to share that experience?

I once met Emil Steinberger. He's a swiss comedian and he has also written a lot of books. I like his kind of humour and meeting him was a great experience in my life.
Also because I work in a bookshop I often meet writers, but I'm not very interested in most of them...

I interviewed my travel writing hero, Tim Cahill, on his home turf in Livingston, Montana. He graciously allowed me to include that interview in my new book Lost Angel Walkabout-One Traveler's Tales.

I love his self-deprecating sense of humor and independent stance.
    Cheers
