Hello students! I am Professor Monkey Gal, but you can just call me Professor MG for short. I am your new poetry and art teacher. I hope you enjoy taking my class!
I will post homework either once a week or once every two weeks, and in between that time span, I will check for people's assignments. I will grade your homework with normal letter grades (A+ through F).
Long term assignments will be assigned every so often. More time will be given for these assignments, up to a month. Regular homework will also be given during long term assignments.
Homework (excluding long term assignments) must be turned in within the two weeks it is posted here. If you do not turn it in within this limit, you will receive an F. Of course, if you have a problem, you can always come to me with questions. And if you don't turn your homework in on time and there's a good reason, let me know. I am understanding and will give you an extension! :)
Extra credit will be given from time to time. I suggest you take advantage of this to keep your grade up!
Plagiarizing, or taking words directly from pre-written sources, is forbidden on all work completed in this class.
If you receive an F on an assignment, you may redo it for half credit. Also, if you are having trouble with the work, please let me know, and I can help you with the materials. Feel free to ask any questions, and send me a private message if you would rather everyone else not see.

~Classwork 3, March 21, 2009~
A couplet is a pair of lines of verse. It usually consists of two lines that rhyme. Some cultures have decorative traditions associated with them.
Here is an example of a Western couplet:
True wit is nature to advantage distressed,
What oft was thought, but ne'er so well expressed.
— Eve King
Basically, a couplet is just two lines whose last words rhyme.
~Homework 3, due April 30, 2009~
Write two couplets on any topic you wish. Make sure they follow the rules of a couplet, explained in the classwork. Good luck!
Classwork 4, April 19, 2009~
Today we will be learning about Paul Cezanne:
Paul Cézanne; 19 January 1839 – 22 October 1906 was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter.
~Homework 4, due May 1, 2009~
Write a brief essay on Paul Cezanne's style of painting. You can use anything to help you: the internet, books, etc. Just make sure to site your source (give the link to a website, the name of the book, etc.) Remember, no plagiarizing!
