Did we ever get the results from the last check in? Are there going to be any new categories? I've been checking in but it feels like it's been a couple weeks since new ones have been posted....

I am posting the results tonight. I decided with some books being moved around I wanted to double and triple check the totals which I am doing now. So sorry about the delay. =(

I added new categories last week. However, because I always edit existing posts, it does not show up as "X-many Unread Posts" in the discussions list. I should have written a separate discussion to let people know, but ... I forgot!

Eep! I'm late, I'm late. So sorry! I was slacking on getting my reviews written up for these books. None of the following are rearranged, so they are all new to my list. Also, I may have stretched G-2 in a direction you weren't intending, so let me know if you'll count it? Thanks!

    A-4: Chef School
Reading Task: Read a cookbook or a fiction book that involve the kitchen in a big way.
Book: Eat This Not That: Supermarket Survival Guide by David Zinczenko
Reason: This whole book is about how to grocery shop wisely to better manage weight and health issues, including recommendations on the best products for an ideal pantry and fridge.

    C-3: The Bachelorette
Reading Task: Read a book where a woman is the main character and the premise of the book is her finding love.
Book: A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro
Reason: Etsuko's best friend is completely obsessed with her American man and seems to make decisions about her life and her daughter's based on his changing whims, all in a desperate effort to be with him.

    D-2: Boot Camp
Reading Task: Read a book in which the main character is on a mission for most of the book (to find something or someone, to solve a mystery, etc.).
Book: Hangman Blind by Cassandra Clark
Reason: The nun, Hildegard, ends up on two missions during the book: one to gain permission to set up her own house, and one to solve the murder of a young man discovered during her journey.

    G-2: Big Brother
Reading Task: Read a book in which the main character spends most of their time in one location (a house, prison, boat, etc.).
Book: The Copper Beech by Maeve Binchy
Reason: Rather than a single indoor location, this book focuses on the citizens of a small town, Shancarrig, in Ireland. The entire book is about the residents of this small town, their struggles to live within it and, at times, their attempts to leave it, but the stories are told in such a way that it almost feels like Shancarrig IS the main character, and all the people in it the supporting cast.

    I-1: Parental Control
Reading Task: Read a book where at least one set of parents are not please with the chosen boyfriend/husband or girlfriend/wife.
    Book: Tex by S.E. Hinton
Reason: Though the mother in the story isn't really mentioned, the father of Tex's girlfriend is HIGHLY unhappy that she's seeing more of him, even going to the point of threatening Tex and his older brother with bodily harm if they continue to pursue it.

    K-3: Human Wrecking Balls
Reading Task: Read a book that involves someone building a new house (or cabin) or hiring an architect to design one for them.
Book: A Summer to Die by Lois Lowry
Reason: In the book, Meg meets two sets of neighbors, one who owns two falling down houses, and a couple that rents one of the houses with the agreement that part of their payment is to come from them fixing up and renovating the home. Part of the story involves efforts to have the land and buildings declared as historical sites to prevent the man's selfish (I think it was nephew?) from taking the land and selling it, and there are assorted scenes where the young couple is landscaping or repairing paint and furniture.

(edit comment)--Oh yeah and forgot to mention that I claimed the bonus on the last check-in, so no bonus this time!
