The Challenged Reader's Next Reality Book Star - Reading Tasks

The Reality TV Show Challenge will run from September 1st to November 30st, 2009. To feature in a show, read a book that fits under the show's Reading Task. To become one of our Award winners, read books for all kinds of shows in different categories.

So, what is a reality show really? This is what wikipedia says: "Reality television is a genre of television programming that presents purportedly unscripted dramatic or humorous situations, documents actual events, and usually features ordinary people instead of professional actors."

Not all of us watch them, but most of us know about some of them.Whatever your opinion of reality shows, let's get some reality tv in your reading life!
Below you will find some Main Categories that the shows will fall under. Every week, we will add a total of about 5 new shows under these categories. Your task is to find books that fit these shows (a description of the reading task for the show will be given).

    What should your strategy be?
We don't count the number of books you read, but the number of shows you "feature" in. So, try and find books for different shows, rather than several books for the same show. Also, we count the number of main categories you feature in. So, it's a good idea to divide your books over different categories. On the other hand, you could also focus on one or more particular categories, in order to win a category award (featuring in the most shows in a particular category).

Example: at the end of the challenge, you've read 15 books in 13 different shows. Your 13 will count towards the Reality TV Extraordinaire Award ("Contestant featured in the most shows"). However, in case of ties, we will also look at the amount of different categories your shows fall under. Did you read for all the categories? That will give you an advantage! Maybe you really prefer to read just books in the Historical Re-creation category. Go ahead! You may be our Historical Hero! In case of ties for a single category award, we will look at the number of books read for that category (incl. multiple books for the same show).

Please feel free to make your own discussion post to keep track of the books you read for this challenge (use your name in the title so other people know what it's for). You CAN move books from one show to another during the challenge or use a previously unused book for a show that is only revealed later in the game.

IMPORTANT: In the check-ins you will be asked to explain why your book fits in a certain show, so please keep track of this! For instance, if you are asked to read a book in which the main character is a dog, in your check-in, note something like "The main character was a dog called Lassie".

You may want to point your follow contestants towards certain books that fulfill the categories. A different discussion "The Show Must Go On (Reality Challenge Book Suggestions)" is created for this reason.

Oh yes! There will be LOTS AND LOTS of shows under each category. According to Wikipedia (where I found the list of almost all reality TV shows in all the countries) these are the categories of reality TV shows and each show falls under one of them. I did decide to combine Spoofs & Parodies because there aren't enough shows to have them separate.
