I am getting the Nook. I researched all the Ereaders and choose the Nook because I liked the fact that it has Android OS and my husband swears it's a great asset. Also, I liked the E ink and the fact that there aren't all the buttons and stuff. I think that it's a personal choice on which reader you get. I went for which features I liked and which ones I wouldn't need and choose from there. I read that several people who got the first ones had problems but I heard that most of the problems have been worked out. I like that with the Nook I can get e books from other places other than Amazon and still read them. I also get gift cards for holidays and birthdays so it makes it really easy for my family to go to a Barnes and Noble store and get those and I can use them for things for my nook. I am scheduled to get my nook Jan 11th. I am willing to wait for it. And the wait for them is getting better, the ones who were supposed to get theirs jan 4th have already gotten theirs so I hope that mine comes early too. But I know several people who are more than happy with their Kindles. I don't know anyone who has the Sony so I can't help there. Sorry. I don't know how much I'll use it but I also liked that I can listen to music and put pictures (which I will do and use for my screen savers) on the Nook. I liked that if the battery dies, I don't have to send the whole device back for a replacement, I can change it myself. And I can insert a memory card and have more storage. I've heard that a lot of people like the fact that the kindle can browse the web, but since I have a lap top, and an itouch ipod, it wasn't a big deal for me. It might be for you... And I know that the kindle seems big, but they don't weigh much at all. I hope that I helped a little. I'll update you when I get my Nook and tell you how I like it in my hot little hands if you want. If you haven't already chosen one. :)
That does help a lot thanks. I am not really big on browsing the web on it. I really just want it for the books and maybe music.
I got my kindle a few months ago and I LOVE IT!!!!!! It's the coolest little thing you can take it with you anywhere and you don't have to wait to get your books, they download in a snap. The battery stays charged for days and it's super lightweight. It's a different feel than reading a book, the kindle (and probably the nook and sony reader too) feels a bit colder than a paper book, but that aside i literally forget that i'm looking at my kindle and not my book. The page turn feature is really cool and honestly it's better than a book because you can take your entire collection with you (i have the one that houses 1500 books! that's amazing to me). The only drawback again with having any type of e-reader is that there is always a risk of some kind of delay on your favorite book being released in an e-format, i had to wait a few days on one of my favorite Lynne Viehl books, but that was no biggie really. AND the super cool part is there are books that are priced as free or $.99 and you can always snag a deal or two that way. I love it, i don't miss my "books" i love having the story instantly and available whenever i want them. It's made my book obsession all that much more attainable, lol!!! Go get one, i recommend the kindle.
I was wondering about the Kindle and just watched the video on Amazon. I want one!
I absolutely love my Kindle as well. I don't know how I managed without it!!! It is as you said light weight and you can carry it anywhere. I never leave home without it.
I just saw a news article about 6 different e book readers coming out this year! Oh my gosh! This is going to make the decision worse. LOL
I broke down and decided the best thing for me was to get a Notebook Laptop, I can still fit it in my purse, and it holds way more books. I read so quick that the extra space was very much a deciding factor. Thanks to everyone for their help. I REALLY LOVE IT!!!! LOL
