    The Road to Serfdom

The Road to Serfdom by F. A. Hayek.

I finally finished this book. It is a classic but I often put it down and didn't get back to it for extended periods of time. Hayek was a brilliant man and shows clearly that Socialism leads to totalitarianism and dictatorship. Not only that, he says that this form of social order will ultimately fall under the control of evil men (like Hitler). Published originally in England near the end of WWII the terminology is difficult for a modern day American. It uses long wordy sentences and references that I often had to go back an read again to make sure I got the point. It shows the fallacies of collectivism and central control. It promotes individualism and free enterprise.
