So we live in an apartment that's just over 1000 sq. ft. So very small. My daughter has her room and I'm thinking the baby will have a bed in there for naps during the day, but I want a bed for in our bedroom at night and we just don't have any space. So the debate is on for what to get. A bassinet, a bedside co-sleeper, or a pack 'n' play with the bassinett and changing table. The bassinets are very small and usually move around easily, some lift off and others have wheels. Some vibrate and have music and are just super cute. But they don't work well to change the baby in so I would need a changing station (I have a VERY bad back and bending over KILLS). A co-sleeper is right next to me at night and I can soothe the baby without getting up (they also make in bassinett size). It also works to change the baby in (I think, I've never seen one in person). They are cute, but VERY simple. A pack 'n' play can also come in bassinett size or be regular. The changing station is right there, they can have music and sometimes vibrations and a mobile. They are also very cute (or can be). I'm also thinking of getting a soothing motions glider, which the baby can sleep in as well when he's really little. So what did you use with your babies? Did you find something that was just amazing and you totally think everyone should go that route? I've discovered everything can be pretty reasonably priced second hand, so thats not too much of an issue. I just need some others input on this...
both of my girls were real big when they were born, so even though i had a bassinet, it didn't get much use. i think the pac n plays on the market today would be good. they tend to be narrow so one should fit next to the bed easily. and it can be used as a bed for quite awhile if need be. my brother got this swing.....i think that might be the same as the glider you're talking about. it would sit up like a regular swing and then lay down in stages all the way till it was layed nearly flat. and it was portable on top of that. the seat in it was massive. one of the girls i keep is a week shy of 1 yr old and weighs 30 plus pounds......yeah, she's hell on the back. she even fits in it. every time i go shopping for new stuff for the kiddies i watch i am amazed at all the cool things they have for babies now. i feel like my kids were deprived way back in the early 90's.
My daughter was really small and I think (for some reason) that this baby will be small as well. But I think I'm leaning towards a pack n play or a co- sleeper cause they'll last longer. There is some amazing stuff out there now! It makes making a decision really hard!Have you ever seen those Amby beds? They just hang down and swing free. Okay, hard to explain, but google it if you don't know, its so weird! If the baby has colic I'm getting one for sure!
i wish i would have had one of those with chey!!! she had colic forever!!! she was only happy in the swing........and not very long there. at night i had to lay with her curled up on my stomach and pat her butt in the rythym on my heartbeat. i thought i would lose my freaking mind before she finally got over it. i know my neighbors thought i was crazy cause i went out on the back porch on a regular basis and just screamed at the top of my lungs.
