    Technical queries

My first question was, "How do you get a memorable Shelfari web address, instead of one with a long database ID number at the end?" I found the answer in Shelfari Help, among Frequently Asked Questions about Accounts:

    9. How do I change my public web address...?

Second was where to opt for group activity notifications. I found this option set on weekly by default (Profile and Account Settings, [a href="http://www.shelfari.com/settings/notifications.aspx "]Email Notifications[/a], Weekly summary). The only choice for updates from Shelfari, friends, books, and groups - combined - is to cancel notifications.

However, notifications re: discussions (that you've started or to which you've contributed?) defaults to hourly, and you can tweak that setting to get notifications immediately, hourly, weekly, or never (Profile and Account Settings, [a href="http://www.shelfari.com/settings/notifications.aspx "]Email Notifications[/a], Discussion Replies).

I still don't know for how long you can continue to edit discussion posts.

The answer to whether Shelfari automatically activates raw URLs (at the beginning of lines) seems to be no, as does the answer to whether Shelfari discussion posts accommodate HTML, for example: link plus display text notations, typed in at first go. Angle brackets for HTML get converted automatically to square brackets when posted, and get reconverted to square brackets if changed to angle brackets in edit mode later.

As for how long you can continue to edit discussion posts in Shelfaria, I see it's at least six hours. Won't it be grand if Shelfaria allows that flexibility to post authors indefinitely?

Paul, I love your technical queries, for I tend to be more of a global viewer of stuff than a minimalist. That's why Erika Cruvinel and I are a great team at our school. I go for the whole, and she goes for the important details! One thing you might try for a shorter URL is using tinyurl. Now, they let you personalize the end of your url, so you could have this page as http://tinyurl.com/shelfariqueries

Thanks for speaking up your mind and writing it here.
