Well this was not the book I thought it was when I chose it for this months read. And it is definitely the WRONG choice of book for this group. So I am glad that know one decided to read this book for this months read.

Regardless I did take the time to read this book.

I am from Utah, and around the Mormon religion and lifestyle more than most of you out there. Orson Scott card is a fellow Utahan and a very strong member of the LDS church. This book was actually written about his life experiences in the church. Raising a family in the church and about situations that have happened to him. I listened to this book on CD, and at the end of all his books on tape/CD he givens a little spiel about how he came up with the idea, story, and book. Listening to that part of the CD was interesting, but did not change my personal opinion of him as a person.

Don’t get me wrong; O.S. Card is a brilliant writer. Not all of his work is great, but some of it is. “Enders Game” is the book that made me fall in love with reading, It’s also the book he is most well known for. But as a person I don’t think very highly of him. There are times I have listened to him talk or an interview, and I will just cringe. He can have a very high opinion of him self.

This book is not for everyone. Infact I would say this book is not for most. It is very LDS based. And it’s about LDS life and religion. It is not at all scary or even suspenseful witch makes this the wrong book choice for this group. Only the very last two chapters of this book is even about he boys who going missing and what happened to them.

And NO I do not recommend this book as a good read.
