5 Pointers

Here is a place for informal chats about the five points of the doctrine of grace. Just relax and enjoy the sovereignty of God. Share blessings and testimonies; announcements and prayer requests etc. Naturally a review of a good book would be nice too. If you are not that familiar with TULIP that is OK. You are welcome to stay. If you are...more »

    Introductions

Greetings in our sovereign Savior's name. I'm Pastor Larry Killion from The Lords Baptist Church in Tacoma, WA. The Lord saved me when I was 14. He began to teach me the precious TULIP doctine when I was a member of the South Park Missionary Baptist Church in Seattle after I got out of the Army and married the bride of my youth. When were you saved and when and where did you begin to learn abut the 5 points?

My name is Doug Newell IV. I am the pastor of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Wake Forest, NC. I have been there for four months. I was saved by the Lord's marvelous grace when I was eight years old, I knew very little, only that I was a wretched sinner, and I had no hope in myself or anyone else, until God called me, and I truly heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, I was immediately exposed to strong pastors and teachers of the doctrines of grace. I then joined the Kings Addition Baptist Church, pastored by James Hobbs. My family and I moved to Calvary Baptist Church, pastored by Joe Wilson, and some years later, I was part of a mission work out of Calvary, that was eventually organized into the Beauty Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, pasoted by my Dad, Doug Newell III.

Hello, my name is David Green, pastor of the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Mansfield OH where I have been for several months now. The Lord saved me in 1992 at a Bible Conference at King's Addition Baptist Church where my grandfather, James Hobbs, is still the pastor. It was there that I learned about the doctrines of grace as well as other truths that have been preached and practiced by the Lord's churches for many years. In 1996, the Lord called me to preach. From 2001-2005 I was in New Mexico as missionary. I am married now and have 3 children (Leah 4, a baby we lost in the womb, and Isaiah due on July 31.) The Lord has been very good to us and we rejoice in all His blessings!

Just another friendly reminder for you to tell us a little bit about yourself and what God has done for you if you haven't done it already. And welcome to the 5 Pointers group.

My name is Willard, but I usually go by Bill. I am currently retired (or side-lined) from vocational and bi-vocational ministry. Although retired, I work full-time caring for my 25-year-old multiply-handicapped daughter and my severely arthritic wife of 35 years.

I was saved on Thanksgiving Eve, 1964 through the ministry of the New London (Ct.) Christian Servicemen's Center. Initially, although not their fault, I was of the Arminian persuasion.

I came to believe in the "5 points" around 1971 or 1972 through an independent and unguided (save by Holy Spirit) study of Romans. Romans 9 was the clincher.

I am sorrry I did not get around to this introduction until now. My name is Medford Caudill. I was saved some 37 years ago when I was a young sovereign Grace Baptist preacher. I was at a meeting in Dearborn Heights, Michigan at a church where the late Harry Hille was pastor. Kent Clark was preaching. One of the first things that he said was that "the easiest place to hide from God is in a church pew". I thought to myself; No that is not true. The easiest place to hide from God is in the pulpit. That night I realized that everything I had been preaching to everyone else was true for me also. That the only way I was going to be saved was by Christ taking my place and dying for my sins. I also knew thateverything I had been doing for the wrong reasons I now had to do for the right reasons. I have been preaching the gospel of grace since that day. I have been the pastor of The New Testament Baptist Church in Goshen IN since 1983 (25 years now). Before that I pastored in Covington Indiana, Starkville Mississippi, Marshall Michigan and on the Island of Saipan in the Pacific.
